Communication Assistant

1. Work closely with the Program Manager and the Middle East Communications and Advocacy Officer on meeting the objectives of Welthungerhilfe Iraq’s communication strategy.
2. Actively contributes to the development and improvement of project-specific communication and social media plans in collaboration with the Program Manager and Middle East Communications and Advocacy Officer.
3. Design fact sheets and program profiles, as needed, to support advocacy and external representation engagements.
4. Ensure proper archiving of collected materials including stories, studies, photos, and videos.
5. Maintain, update, and grow WHH Iraq CO’s social media presence on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram channels and potentially expand to Blusky. This includes creating engaging content and ensuring that Welthungerhilfe Iraq’s messaging is timely, accurate and impactful.
6. Create, edit, and localize communications materials in English, Arabic and Kurdish in close cooperation with the Middle East Communications and Advocacy Officer and relevant program staff.
7. Assist in organizing events, meetings, and other activities related to communications.
8. Undertake field trips to field offices and project sites, as required, to collect photos, videos, and stories. Priority will be given to applicants with photography and videography skills.
9. Support advocacy campaigns by developing communication materials to raise awareness about Welthungerhilfe’s work and causes.
10. Ensure that Welthungerhilfe’s website is up to date and includes the latest information pertaining to our programmes and projects.
11. Demonstrate proficiency with communication tools, social media platforms and content management systems.  Knowledge of graphic design software (e.g., InDesign, Adobe Illustrator), photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom), and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere) is a plus. Familiarity with communication technologies and best practices is required.
12. Perform other duties as assigned within the communications scope.

Professional/Formal Qualification:

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in  Graphic Design, Filmmaking, Journalism,  Media or other relevant field is required.

Job-related Professional Experience 

• At least 1-3 years of professional experience in an INGO, association, organization, social enterprise, or media setting with strong communication output is required.

Language Skills:

• Fluency in English, Arabic and Kurdish is mandatory.
