Scope of Work:
Reporting to the Country Director, the
Communication Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining and implementing
IRC Myanmar’s communications strategy, ensuring consistent messaging to support
high-quality internal and external relations.
The Communication Coordinator is responsible for
developing informative content that is disseminated to different audiences,
including donors, IRC offices, potential partners, and other appropriate
stakeholders. The coordinator will coordinate with focal points from Program,
MEAL, Grants & Partnerships, and senior management teams to generate new
ideas and effectively share information.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the roll out, implementation, and maintenance of IRC Myanmar’s communication strategy.
  • In coordination with the Senior Officer from Global Communications, develop an annual content calendar to highlight IRC’s successes on appropriate platforms.
  • Develop factsheets outlining IRC’s operations and programs that are suitable for internal and external dissemination.
  • Develop situation reports that highlight relevant crises and present the progress of IRC’s interventions.
  • Collect and develop human interest and success stories related to IRC’s interventions for use in donor reports, social media posts, Rescue Net, and other communications materials.
  • Maintain a photo library for use in communications material and project teams.
  • Support the design and layout of other visual materials required, such as IEC or safeguarding materials.
  • Build the capacity of the program teams in topics related to effective communications, such as identifying appropriate success stories and informed consent for visual content collection.
  • Support IRC’s partners to meet their own communications priorities.

Key Working Relationships: The Communication Coordinator will work under the direct supervision of the Country Director. S/He will coordinate with IRC senior Management body, program leads, and partner program staff for communication and reporting with quality assurance.

Minimum Qualifications:

What
should you have?

Education
Degree in communication, media, or related public relations
field.
Working Experience:
4-6 years of experience with Myanmar media and/or
international media, or previous employment fulfilling similar job description
responsibilities with an NGO.
Competencies:
Demonstrated
understanding of the Myanmar operating context is required.
Evidence
of published writing and knowledge of journalism protocols and style.
Familiarity
with design software; good photography skills is a plus.
Positive,
professional, and can-do attitude, including the ability to work well in a team
setting
Strong
ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure under pressure,
coordinate multiple tasks, and maintain attention to detail.
Willingness
and flexibility to travel to rural project sites
Excellent
written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills.
Language/Travel
Fluency
in English and Burmese is a must.
Travel:
minimum national and international travel is required – not to exceed 30%.

Myanmar nationals with relevant skills sets and proven
experience of working at international level are strongly encouraged.
