For every child, a Champion

UNICEF’s private sector division has ambitious goals to deliver on income, influence, and brand recognition. A key driver of increased income is a strong brand and a key strategy to deliver that is through engaging content, to both build the brand and engender support among all UNICEF’s private sector audiences. Reporting to the Chief of section and working in close collaboration with other Unit heads of the Marketing and PR section, this role will lead the Supporter Content Unit as well as a number of freelance individuals and agencies and work closely with content teams globally and in the Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division (PFP) to drive engagement among UNICEF’s private sector supporters, both non-financial and financial

This role will lead in the development and implementation of an integrated private sector content plan. Working closely with communication teams globally, multi-channel fundraising teams and the Division of Global Communication and Advocacy (DGCA), the role will be to strengthen and drive content development for private sector audiences. The incumbent is also expected to identify gaps in the content pipeline and contract individuals and agencies to deliver high quality, engaging and inclusive content.

 

How can you make a difference?

Develop a content strategy for PFP:

  • Develop private sector content strategy and plan, in collaboration with the individual and business teams in PFP and content team in DGCA.
  • Agree implementation schedule and ensure plan is delivered on deadline and within budget.

 Monitor and report on results of content assets:

  • Ensure strong system of monitoring and evaluation for centrally developed content, to include income, brand, and reach indicators.
  • Maintain an updated data set on levels of engagement resulting from different campaigns and content packages to inform strategic planning.

Networking and entrepreneurial thinking:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with DGCA in NYHQ, country/regional offices as well as other PFP sections, to ensure plans and activities are well aligned and co-ordinated.
  • Track national committees, external agencies, and private sector companies to keep abreast of cutting edge creative and engagement techniques.

Management and leadership:

  • Manage a team of staff and consultants to ensure high quality performance, and delivery of content targets within budget.
  • Ensure good working relationships with income leads on fundraising content, digital marketing and DGCA’s content lead.

Quality control:

  • Ensure quality of outputs in all content products, alignment with UNICEF brand and engagement objectives.
  • In close coordination with Child Safeguarding colleagues and DGCA, the role will advise, and build capacity of national committees and PFP teams as well as the implementation of imagery guidelines.
  • Working closely with DGCA, set the standard for compelling, inclusive storytelling for fundraising markets, including impact stories.
  • Participate in content gathering trips, to ensure high quality content is delivered and build understanding of UNICEF’s core work and mission.

 

To qualify as a Champion for every child you will have?

Education:

  • An Advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: Public Relation, Marketing, Communication, or other related areas.
  • Alternatively, a first-level university degree in combination with two years of additional work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • A minimum of eight years of professional work experience in the field of communication, media production, broadcasting or marketing is required.
  • Experience of creating visual and broadcast assets for private sector audiences is required.
  • Experience of advising on ethical imagery and storytelling, including its implementation is required.
  • Experience working in a UNICEF field office is an asset.
  • Experience of managing a team is required.
  • Knowledge of the UN system is an asset.

Language requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is an asset.

Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.

 

Remarks: 

UNICEF PFP-Geneva is currently reviewing organizational changes; therefore, the successful candidates may be asked to commence duties remotely, and they may later be asked to relocate and be assigned to the final post-duty station/location.
