How can you make a difference?

Are you a skilled communicator passionate about making a difference for children? UNICEF Romania is seeking a Communications Officer to join our dynamic team and drive impactful storytelling, media relations, and public engagement. This role offers an exciting opportunity to create content that supports our mission, engage with key partners, and contribute to strategic campaigns that foster positive change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communication Strategy & Content Creation: Develop and manage high-quality communication products aligned with UNICEF’s country strategy, global campaigns, and resource mobilization goals. Produce articles, press releases, and multimedia content to amplify our impact.
  • Media Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with media contacts across print, digital, and broadcast platforms to expand UNICEF’s outreach. Prepare media materials, coordinate site visits, and manage media coverage to tell UNICEF’s story effectively.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation of communication efforts to ensure impactful outcomes. Collect and analyze data, assess media coverage, and contribute insights for continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Events: Maintain and develop a network of essential contacts—including celebrities, partners, and key influencers—to support advocacy and communication objectives. Coordinate special events that promote UNICEF’s goals and build public support.

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field.
  • Work Experience: At least 1 year of relevant work experience in communication, print and broadcast media, or interactive digital media.
  • Skills (optional): [Insert technical and non-technical skills].
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Romanian is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).

Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
