AGIAMONDO e.V. is the personnel service of German Catholics for development cooperation. In the Civil Peace Service we offer professionals the opportunity for meaningful service in cooperation with local development actors. The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is a personnel program for violence prevention and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions. It works for a world in which conflicts are settled without violence. Together with church and civil society partner organizations in Burundi, AGIAMONDO aims to contribute to civil conflict transformation there and to the sustainable equitable development of the country through peacebuilding measures.

 

The Centre Diocésain de Communication (CEDICOM) is the communication center of the Archdiocese of Bujumbura. Bujumbura, the capital and largest city of Burundi, offers a well-developed infrastructure and a variety of recreational opportunities.

 

To support our local partner organisation in Uganda we are looking for a Communication specialist for church peace work (m/f/x).

Your tasks

  • You will take part in organizing training courses on professional journalistic production techniques, reporting techniques, and peace- and conflict-sensitive journalism. 
  • You will accompany and coach the production and broadcasting of news and peace programs.
  • You will analyze the media content of the channels used by CEDICOM and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • You will develop tools to review, evaluate, and refine radio programming plans to optimize CEDICOM’s communications work. 
  • You will help to expand networking with media representatives*, journalists*, NGOs and other partners in the field of church peace work
  • You will be responsible for the proper spending and administration of funds in the field according to donor guidelines and AGIAMONDO requirements. In doing so, you will work in partnership with CEDICOM

 

 

Your profile

  • You have a degree in journalism, communications or a related field.
  • You are experienced in producing peace content for radio, TV and social media.
  • You bring experience in organizing and conducting training courses on journalistic production and reporting techniques.
  • You are proficient in social media and have experience in community management.
  • You have sufficient knowledge of peace, conflict, and religion, as well as sensitivity to interfaith dialogue and intercultural communication, to evaluate media content and its impact. 
  • You appreciate the value of collaboration in a multicultural environment. 
  • Excellent written and spoken French skills are mandatory.
  • You are an EU citizen* or Swiss* citizen* and a member of a Christian church.
