BACKGROUND

TRAFFIC is the leading nongovernmental organization working globally on trade in wild animals and plants in the context of both biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.

TRAFFIC International is a charity and limited company registered in the UK. TRAFFIC’s head office, based in Cambridge UK, provides worldwide leadership, coordination, crossregional and corporate functions. TRAFFIC’s local engagement is managed through programme offices operating under the auspices of the UK charity, with staff based in a hub office and at other strategic locations where necessary. Programme offices operate within a geographic area of responsibility focused on one or multiple countries where TRAFFIC aims to help deliver priority programme outcomes.

The salary range for this position is between £23,000 to £25,000 p.a. depending on experience and skills.

JOB DESCRIPTION

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

In this newly created role, you’ll help us communicate with new and existing external audiences, creating and delivering content that brings our work to life across a range of channels and platforms.

You’ll support the team in storytelling, engaging external audiences including donors and partners in communicating what TRAFFIC does, and how sustainable and legal trade can enable a naturepositive future.

You will assist with creation and output of social media content, as well as helping to ensure our website and external bulletins reflect the issues and campaigns that matter most.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
• Assist with creation and dissemination of highquality digital content to bring TRAFFIC stories and key messages to life across a range of external channels, including website, social media, partner bulletins and newsletters
• Support drafting of highquality content for our platforms and channels including email, social media, bulletins and corporate publications
• Support the rollout of stories, reports and fundraising campaigns With the Communications Manager – Media, help develop and implement a new social media strategy based on TRAFFIC’s new narrative development
• With support from the Communications Manager – Digital, maintain content of the website and ensure high quality and engaging output
• Build strong relationships with communications teams in our partner organisation and ensure supportive crossposting and amplification of outputs
• Proactively maintain the team forward planning diary
• Attend TRAFFIC project meetings as needed to represent communications, and follow up on agreed outcomes
• Coordinate the distribution of a range of communications, engagement and consultation materials, including newsletters, corporate publications, surveys, flyers and invitations.
• Measure and evaluate communications impact and undertake audience insight work to develop the highest standards of effective content.
• To support the communications team to deliver an effective function, including booking rooms/venues and AV equipment, managing lists, compiling presentations, sharing agendas and minute taking if needed.

REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum education of A level in a relevant subject or NVQ3 or equivalent level of qualification or significant equivalent previous proven experience
• Some relevant experience in delivering aspects of communications, such as content creation, website management, copy editing or public relations is required
• Fluency in English with excellent English writing skills; working knowledge of any other languages an advantageGood knowledge of computer applications; keyboard skills to include Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Hootsuite Pro, and internet experience
• Experience of using design and editing tools, such as Canva and Premiere Pro
• Broad understanding of conservation and TRAFFIC’s role in delivering a naturepositive future; an appreciation of working in the notforprofit sector
• Ability to deliver high quality written work, with good attention to detail
• Ability to work to tight and conflicting deadlines with minimal supervision using own initiative and prioritising own workload
• Ability to work to the highest standards, demonstrating resilience to pressure and retaining due professionalism at all times
• Positive and flexible approach to work, with the ability to use own initiative to deliver highquality work, with the judgment to know when to ask for help or advice, especially in sensitive or contentious situations
• Ability to navigate challenges and stay on course, with the tenacity and drive to prioritise actions and make things happen
• Commitment to the values and principles of TRAFFIC, with the ability to actively promote equality, diversity and inclusion within all areas of responsibility
