  • Salary $99,942.00 per annum
  • Fixed Term Contract Position (1.0 FTE – 76 hours per fortnight until 30th June 2025, with the possibility of a further extension).

Reporting to the Manager, Communications & Marketing, the Communications Advisor – Editing & Publication leads and manages the production and maintenance of the online and printed content produced by Emerging Minds. The role includes leading and managing projects in conjunction with Communications Officers, and content writers. The incumbent is also responsible for the oversight of production and publication processes for web and printed content, including training tools, practice guides, issues papers, e-learning courses, webinars, general information, news, and events.

Key duties include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of editorial processes for Emerging Minds publication schedule including e-learning courses, practice papers, research papers, short articles, podcast show notes, blogs, newsletters, and web copy.
  • Lead the development and delivery of discreet content development and online learning projects.
  • Copy edit publications produced by Emerging Minds to improve readability, translate complex ideas for a general audience and correct technical errors.
  • Research, write and build short form web content (eg: articles, blogs) designed to introduce key topics and grow the Emerging Minds audience.
  • Ensure the consistency and quality of all Emerging Minds published materials by applying the principles in accordance with the Style Guide and Branding Guidelines.
  • Project manage regular reviews and annual updates of the Emerging Minds Style Guide, Emerging Minds Learning Style Guide, Emerging Minds Glossary, and other reference materials.
  • Project manage the planning, creation, and delivery of workforce package communications materials, including assets briefs, communications plans, promotional assets, and course summaries
  • Review resources prior to publication to ensure they meet Emerging Minds’ communications and marketing standards.
  • Support the Manager, Communications & Marketing and nominated media agency to develop, execute and evaluate a media strategy for Emerging Minds.
  • Provide advice to spokespeople to support the media strategy and identify potential media angles.

To be successful in this position you will have:

  • A relevant degree level qualification (e.g., in journalism, communications, or health promotion).
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in digital media /content creation/editing related disciplines.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and accomplishing the objectives of complex project/s utilising high levels of initiative.
  • Proven ability to provide high quality consultancy and project management services to management, employees, and external bodies in the development of innovative online platforms.
  • Proven ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, to a wide range of people across national jurisdictions on a range of sensitive and complex issues.
  • High level of experience in the development, delivery, and evaluation of communication strategies.
  • High level of experience in effectively managing and marketing a brand.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the development and project management of a range of online platforms.
  • Experience in briefing and working collaboratively with a range of external organisations such as PR agencies and research organisations.

Special conditions

  • This position may require intra/interstate travel which may necessitate overnight absences (subject to COVID-19 restrictions and Government health advice).
  • It is a condition of employment that the employee is fully vaccinated (as determined by the employer) against COVID-19 to the satisfaction of the employer and provides the employer with evidence it considers satisfactory. These are both inherent requirements of the employee’s position. Being fully vaccinated includes booster injections.
  • A current National Police Certificate and Working with Children Check are required.
  • This is a fixed term contract position until 30 June 2025, with the possibility of a further contract extension.
  • This position is subject to a six-month probationary period.
