About Global Forest Generation:

Do you want to channel your creative energy and passion to help save the natural world?  So do we!

Global Forest Generation (GFG) is a US-based 501(c)3 NGO. We unite local leaders and their communities across national borders to bring lost and degraded forest ecosystems back to life, which are essential for climate resilience and the protection of biodiversity, water, and livelihoods. By integrating local community participation and ancestral knowledge into every restoration project, we make a substantial positive impact upon the world’s most critical yet neglected ecosystems. GFG is poised to grow a movement – from remote villages to corporate boardrooms – keeping our earth habitable for future generations.

GFG’s first restoration initiative, Acción Andina, protects and restores critical native forest ecosystems across five countries in the Andes of South America. Co-led by our South American conservation partners, Acción Andina was recently recognized with Prince Williams’ Earthshot Prize and as a World Restoration Flagship by the United Nations, both transformative honors that affirm the quality and effectiveness of our work in the Andes.

The Communications and Digital Content Specialist reports to the Communications Director and will be instrumental in developing creative communications and compelling marketing campaigns. This is a new position, with the opportunity to dream up and define the scope of work. The Communications and Digital Content Specialist will function as a generalist, engaging in various forms and combinations of content creation, multimedia design, marketing strategy, and public relations activities. This is a fully remote position with the opportunity for travel to project sites.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Help build GFG’s voice and visual brand through your creative vision.
  • Develop engaging, shareable graphics and messages on social media and other digital platforms.
    • Help identify key moments, milestones, and opportunities to promote success and impact stories, especially of on-the-ground restoration partners.
  • Use digital storytelling and marketing to help position GFG as a global leader in restoration and conservation.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Assist the Communications Director in creating and implementing a strong GFG communications strategy.
  • Collaborate with and serve as the main point of contact for Acción Andina communications staff and assist with ensuring coordinated communications between both entities.
  • Develop, implement, and manage digital marketing content for campaigns through channels including but not limited to e-newsletters, emails, digital publications, social media, and digital advertising.
  • Identify social media/digital marketing trends and insights and work with the Communications Director to determine the best strategy based on the insights.
  • Brainstorm new and creative growth strategies and plans, execute and measure experiments and conversion tests.
  • Manage content and graphics for the GFG website, including updates and new feature stories; monitor analytics.
  • Assist in the design and development of donor presentations, pitches, slide decks, annual reports, and quarterly GFG newsletters.
  • Help make decisions about and execute any paid digital content (Google ads, LinkedIn ads, etc.)
  • Oversee digital asset management; ensure all visual assets are well-organized and discoverable.
  • Ability to edit short promotional videos for social media is a plus.

Qualifications and Background:

  • Minimum three years of experience assisting an organization in digital communications, preferably for a nonprofit or international organization.
  • Passionate about native forest conservation and knowledgeable about environmental issues.
  • Excellent writing and communications skills in both English and Spanish. Must be bilingual. Must be able to draft copy for emails, social media, web, and other marketing platforms in both languages.
  • Familiarity with digital content development and creating compelling campaigns to inform, inspire, or influence.
  • Deadline-oriented with excellent time-management skills and attention to detail.
  • Highly collaborative and willing to work with Spanish-speaking partners across South America.
  • Familiarity with design software (Adobe, Canva, etc.)
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Salary range is $55,000-$65,000, heavily dependent on experience. Benefits include health insurance, dental, 100% employer-sponsored vision, employer-matched IRA retirement account, and flexible paid time off.
