ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Patel College of Global Sustainability (PCGS) at the University of South Florida fosters sustainable development through collaborative research, education, and community involvement. Its research generates innovations and new knowledge that promotes sustainability development around the world, including those in developing countries, to reduce their ecological footprint, while improving their form and function to make them healthier, more livable and resilient. The College graduates sustainability leaders who will work on improving the lives of many by providing solutions to environmental challenges today and in the future.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Communications and Marketing Officer (CMO) is primarily responsible for providing specialized expertise in marketing, communication, and public relations by developing and coordinating a variety of activities designed to promote and publicize USF Patel College of Global Sustainability (PCGS) in efforts to enhance its brand, visibility and image. This position serves as a media contact responsible for integrating marketing concepts and utilizing communication vehicles to increase awareness of and engagement with USF PCGS through the oversight and coordination of special events, produce/write/edit marketing and promotional materials such as brochures, newsletters, flyers, on-line and multimedia content, videography/photography, presentations, assist with website development and management oversight. Along with office team members, this position supports college enrollment goals and will plan and implement college-wide special events.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing/Communications: Support brand management to ensure USF Patel College of Global Sustainability designs and university graphics are appropriately displayed and utilized through the development of various communications and marketing activities to increase awareness, strengthen affinity and provide opportunities for engagement with the college. Works with dean, faculty, staff, and students to identify, develop, and market stories through newsletters and other means that promote and publicize the program-related content such as research projects, programs, events, student activities, community outreach efforts, and faculty, staff, and student achievements.
Recruitment/Enrollment: Coordinate and manage events such as webinars, online information sessions, and recruitment fairs, leveraging digital tools to reach prospective students and stakeholders across the world to support college enrollment goals. Work closely with the college’s leadership team to promote PCGS Master’s Degree Programs to a wide range of audiences, building and maintaining relationships with media outlets and influencers to increase the program’s online and face-to-face exposure. Develop a unique content strategy for crafting clear, concise marketing content designed to recruit new students to the Patel College. Develop content for a variety of marketing platforms, to include writing and organizing content for websites, landing pages, email campaigns, digital publications, social media sites, blogs, reports, brochures, newsletters, presentations, etc.
Event Planning: Join team members in planning, coordinating and implementing college events to promote PCGS branding, visibility and awareness. Promote PCGS events through newsletters and social media channels. Makes presentations and speeches to promote the college, and/or develop speeches and presentation graphics and charts for delivery by others in the college.
Perform other administrative and support duties as assigned by the Dean and required in support of the mission and communication strategy of the college.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM :
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, public relations, technical writing, digital media, or related field, with two years of experience in related positions; or a Master’s degree in the fields listed above. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
PREFERRED :
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in communication, English, journalism, creative/technical writing, marketing, public relations, digital media, or related field, with 3-5 years of experience in related positions; or a Master’s degree in the fields listed above with 2-3 years of experience in related positions.
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:
Excellent consumer and product awareness, excellent organizational and planning skills, excellent written and verbal communication, the ability to work on multiple projects at one time, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, excellent  attention to details and accuracy, strong IT and social media skills, experience with and excellent knowledge of marketing techniques, self-motivated, ability to be a team player, excellent creative and innovative skills.
