Purpose
Reporting to the National Director and serving as a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), the Communications Officer promotes Habitat for Humanity, its brand and programs in Jordan, to diverse stakeholders, in close coordination and in alignment with the global communications team at the area office. This position will support the Fundraising team in planning, creating and delivering marketing materials to engage potential and existing donors and supporters, including growing Jordan’s tithing portfolio and converting online visitors into givers/donors.
The Communications Officer is responsible for developing messaging in alignment with the organization’s mission, vision and values, Habitat’s overarching communication strategy and Habitat Jordan’s program strategy. The communication officer will co-develop the Habitat Jordan communications/marketing strategy and ensure their implementation through adherence to Habitat for Humanity’s branding guidelines, brand language and core values. The communications officer will develop communications and marketing materials (and support tithe/individual giving donor-relationship management, management of social media platforms and website), and creation of consistent and cohesive communications content for , newsletters, emails, and reports.
Key Perfoamance Areas:
- Media, communications and publications
- Propose and develop beneficiary and homeowner stories that can be shared with fundraising and communication teams, donors and partners
- Plan, coordinate and oversee the development and production of publications and resources such as brochures, reports and newsletters ensuring adherence to branding guidelines
- Develop and implement communications and marketing plans with fundraising and program staff and advise on best practices for specific campaigns and/or projects using relevant tools.
- Create media contact lists and develop connections with relevant media outlets
- Prepare press releases in coordination with the Senior Management Team and global communications teams Ensure press release distribution and monitor media coverage
Establish a media monitoring process for articles and materials relevant to housing issues in Jordan Publicize events and activities amongst relevant audience groups through social media channels and media outlets when relevant

Plan and deliver content and for Habitat for Humanity Jordan website

Advise on relevant social media platforms and ensure optimal and effective engagement across selected platforms and social media accounts, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.

Create photography repository of relevant, high quality photographic material aligned with branding guidelines Manage all digital fundraising related communications including advertisement and promotions and working with various departments and teams to ensure raising funds, building awareness and engaging donors.
Fundraising support

Create innovative digital fundraising content for HFH Jordan social media platforms

Research and implement diversified digital fundraising channels, methods and payment schemes

Acquire new and retain existing financial supporters using digital/online platforms

muCo-ordinate all fundraising communications.

Develop digital fundraising plan in alignment with HFH Jordan fundraising strategy and with the support of the National Director.

Provide technical support in writing proposals and concept notes to fundraising teams and donors in relation to online communications.
Build Events support
- Design information manuals for volunteers.
- Develop homeowner stories and/or community profiles.
Promote Build events by inviting selected journalist to experience events and provide access to approved interviewees from Habitat, the community, stakeholders etc.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Write reports for global and reporting, donors and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct data analysis and produce reporting monthly through e.g. Google Analytics to increase effectiveness of fundraising
- Monitor digital fundraising programs and in a timely manner make recommendations on how to improve effectiveness.
Organizational contributions
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings, including devotion meetings, strategic planning, performance assessments, work planning and work review
- Other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the supervisor.

- Excellent writing skills in Arabic and English Able to identify and develop communication content and with a strong understanding of media requirements and interests in terms of story angle and relevance of story in a larger context. Able to pitch stories and material to media and determine newsworthiness of content Able to provide context to establish better understanding and positioning of content within the organization and for external target audiences Able to identify, adjust and refine content for target audience groups Thorough understanding of safeguarding elements and principles Able to use Canva design software effectively Understanding of key housing and human settlement issues – low-cost housing, affordable housing, WASH, energy, and urban development Ability to assess and advise on relevant social media platform and develop social media strategy to engage identified audience groups. Ability to interact with senior level international and national professionals, donors, and partners

Notes/Other
Although the position holder will report to the National Director from whom support can be derived, the incumbent must have the ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision, be a team builder, and demonstrate capacity for maintaining high professional standards.
