These positions are to be filled at Headquarters, regional bureaux, country offices and field offices. The holders of the position report to the Communications Officer.
At this level, the holders must demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond autonomously to queries with only general guidance in relation to all modalities of assistance, both for WFP logistics services and for common services. They are required to use good judgment in the face of unforeseen problems that may arise on a daily basis. The job holders generally manage a small team, supervising and instructing its members.
JOB PURPOSE
- Provide specialized research and communications services that support the creation of content and services aimed at maintaining and improving WFP’s visibility and reputation and supporting fundraising activities.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
- Design a work plan that adheres to the strategic communication plan in line with your responsibilities.
- Manage and monitor communication with journalists and media for timely coverage of PMA activities.
- Strengthen the database of journalists and the relationship with them so that they are a strategic ally in the media positioning of PMA.
- Production of events and their content to position PMA in different areas.
- Be in constant communication with communicators from the offices of implementing partners, strategic allies, and others who are supportive of timely coverage of PMA.
- Editorial responsible for presentations, official letters, web information, banners, and any other PMA informative material to internal and external audiences to facilitate their understanding under PMA’s visibility guidelines.
- Update and develop internal databases and material records relevant to the nature of your role, ensuring that information is accurate, well organized and accessible to the team.
- Respond to specialized queries and support requests, using your spirit of initiative and applying standard procedures, to ensure timely and correct resolution of queries.
- Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to provide a harmonized and coherent service, and define opportunities for collaboration and integration of the respective processes and activities. Implement improvements in communication methods and practices, to help improve the transmission of information about WFP’s work to the media and stakeholders
- Support all activities to strengthen the positioning or visibility of PMA at the national, regional and global level, with the support of the Communications Officer.
- Support the implementation of the strategic communication plan in coordination with the team.
- Serve as a focal point for daily requests from other units to the communication area.
- Prepare, review and correct documents and reports, reports and what is required by donors.
- Prepare editorial material (reports, articles for corporate platforms, and publications.
- Be in constant communication with your counterparts at the regional, HQ and global level to manage good practices.
- Identify areas of opportunity for visibility of PMA, donors and strategic partners.
- Support internal administrative processes required by the team according to their management.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor’s level studies in Communications, Graphic Design, Communication for development, Social Communication, Social Marketing or related studies in social and human sciences with a focus on communication and marketing.
Languages:
- Fluency in Spanish and English (Level C)
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE
Experience:
- At least 4 years of experience in communications or areas related to digital marketing or graphic design.
