Mission and objectives
WHO Country Office programming is in the process of transition as together with MoH, the Country Cooperation Strategy (2016 – 2021) is to be evaluated and a new one developed. This will inform the work of WHO in Seychelles. Work which goes beyond health emergencies to ensure support to MoH in attaining and maintaining equal access to Universal Health Coverage, and further promotes wellness and better health.
Context
Building on previous experience, the Country Office requires dedicated support to ensure consistent messaging, timely dissemination of information, and stronger engagement with partners, media, and the public.
This assignment provides a structured learning opportunity for an early-career communications professional to develop practical experience in health communications within a United Nations setting, under the close supervision of the WHO Representative.
Task description
• Contribute to the implementation of the WHO Country Office communications plan, in coordination with the WHO Regional Office for Africa (AFRO).
• Manage WHO Seychelles social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, X), including drafting and publishing content in line with WHO guidelines.
• Draft communication materials such as human-interest stories, press releases, newsletters, and web updates.
• Monitor media coverage regularly and prepare summary reports for the Country Office.
• Maintain and update the Country Office photo and video database, ensuring proper archiving and accessibility of materials.
• Support documentation of WHO-supported activities, including field missions and events.
• Coordinate with external service providers (photographers, videographers, designers) for the production of communication materials.
• Support the organization of public events, including coordination with partners and media engagement.
• Contribute to joint communication initiatives with UN agencies and the Ministry of Health.
• Support preparation of reports, briefs, and other visibility materials.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
