This is a local recruitment. Only Indian nationals, individuals with residence status or the appropriate employment visa for India are eligible to apply. The remuneration and benefits package for this position is established with reference to the local labour market and in line with the IUCN Conditions of Service for India.

The position will support the Programme Manager in the implementation of the project ‘Himalayas for Future- Phase II’ implementation in India and lead the strategic communications.

In addition to providing general support in project communications, this position will support the development and implementation of communication strategy and engagement plan to develop and sustain strong partnerships and achieve the stakeholder engagement and communication goals of the IUCN India Programme.

Duties:

  • Support in implementation of HFF Phase II Project in accordance with the agreed project work plan and timelines. Develop communications work plans for the project as needed or desired by project manager. Hold regular meetings with technical team to review progress and discuss upcoming communications activities;
  • Lead the production of high-quality, engaging materials, impact stories, and content to showcase the project’s multifaceted work (including content for website, press, reports, and social media).
  • Develop a long-term communications strategy and workplan for the India programme towards expanding reach, communication and awareness and build future partnerships in line with IUCN’s vision.
  • Support program communications by drafting, proofreading, and editing social media posts, newsletters, press releases, etc.
  • Collaborate with external agencies to develop media assets that effectively communicate key messaging for IUCN’s initiatives across various domains.
  • Conduct field missions for project implementation and communications content, as necessary
  • Develop a quarterly calendar featuring compelling content like news stories, articles, special feature stories, infographics, videos, supporting photographs, photo blogs, Vlogs (Video Blogs) features and interviews.
  • Regular review and tweaking of the communication plan with inputs from IUCN project team
  • Collaborate with the technical associate to seek technical inputs and guidance on the development of communication products and materials.
  • Create customized content based on specific platforms and disseminate information in multiple ways.
  • Provide support in conferences and trainings through presentations, posters, exhibition stands, etc.
  • Lead planning, organisation and delivery of project meetings, workshops and events;
  • Lead development and delivery of project communication outputs;
  • Coordinate with the communications focal point based in the India Country Office and/or the Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Officer (Asia Regional Office) for editorial feedback and clearance before disseminating communications content to external stakeholders.
  • Carry out any other duties as per advice of the Line Manager and the Country Representative, IUCN India. This may include assisting the IUCN India Country Office and the country programme in strategic partnerships, organising events and other activities/tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • Formal/Academic Education
  • Masters preferably in English/Journalism/Public Relations/Advertising/Mass Communication with 2 years work experience or
  • Bachelors with 5 years of professional experience
  • Training & Experience
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant post-qualification professional experience in a communications role relevant to the terms of reference.

Language skills:

  • Fluency in English, Hindi
