Do you feel strongly about educational opportunity? Are you motivated by the chance to improve access to Oxford for students from underrepresented backgrounds? Would you like to use your communication skills to support a team whose work empowers these students to feel confident to apply? Our Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach department is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Communications Assistant to join its Information, Marketing and Communications team.
This is a key public-facing role which will give you the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of digital communications, and develop your skills in web editing, social media planning and execution, as well as design, content creation, and the building of email newsletters. You will take the lead in responding to individual enquiries from applicants and their supporters and be a confident writer who can also clearly and diplomatically escalate any concerns that are presented by enquiries. You will be keen to learn and develop your skills, and we will encourage you to take advantage of the many opportunities for career development available to Oxford University staff.
Our team strives to make sure that talented students from all backgrounds feel motivated and excited about applying to Oxford. We promote the Oxford student experience and explain the undergraduate admissions process to potential and current applicants. We use a variety of digital communications channels in strategic and creative ways to give applicants all the information they need to apply to Oxford – these include the undergraduate admissions website (which typically receives around 14 million page views per year), social media (Twitter, Instagram and YouTube), newsletters and our digital prospectus. We regularly produce engaging video content to inspire our applicants, and we are also in touch directly with applicants and their supporters (teachers and families) every day, giving them the information they need about applying to Oxford.
If you’re excited by the possibility of motivating students who have the potential to succeed at Oxford, but are not sure that it is for them, this could well be the role for you.
If you have any questions about the role, please contact Emilie Ferguson, Deputy Head of Information, Marketing and Communications, Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach: [email protected].
Only applications received before 12 pm on Friday 22 March 2024 can be considered.
Interviews will be held on Tuesday 2 April 2024.
