Hiring Unit:
Computational and Data Systems Initiative
Position Summary:
The Computational and Data Systems Initiative (CDSI) aims to connect, complement, and amplify the rich ecosystem of McGill investments at the nexus where computing, data, and systems meet – particularly around AI and data science. CDSI is expanding its online presence and seeks a qualified individual passionate
about communicating science to the public, particularly in the context of today’s quickly evolving space around all things data and AI. Currently registered undergraduate or graduate McGill students to become a communications assistant.
Duties:
- Writing bi-monthly newsletter
- Keeping up to date with campus events and integrating CDSI with relevant on campus event channels
- Facilitating communications with various student led groups
- Maintaining, updating, and creating content for social media: X Twitter, Facebook; LinkedIn; YouTube; Instagram
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of various social media platforms (YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, X)
- Strong knowledge of web design
- Knowledge of French and English
- Students with on-campus experience preferred
- Knowledge about on campus resources, activities and services required
Experience and education:

High School Diploma with one year of relevant experience in the
field of work
- Undergraduate Student registered in a McGill program is preferred
- Work Study Eligible Students Preferred
“Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # 4(qualifier) on a scale of 0-4.”
