Report to: Strategic Communications and Outreach Advisor
Program Overview: Chemonics International, a US-based international development consulting firm, seeks a Communications and Outreach Advisor for the USAID Iraq Together project. Iraq Together aims to provide more equitable, efficient, and sustainable public services in Iraq, as well as improving government responsiveness to citizens’ needs and demands. Objectives of this project include working with the Government of Iraq (GOI) to improve service delivery and strengthen democratic and participatory governance.
Position Overview: The Communications Associate will support communications and outreach activities, ensuring project promotion and visibility, media and social media presence, and donor branding and marking. This position is open to Iraqi nationals residing in Iraq (preferably Baghdad). We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Producing communication materials, including film, photography, and social media posts, that reflect Ma’an’s project objectives and key messages using the vendor’s/BPAs we have in our list.
- Assisting in the creation of infographics.
- Managing engaging text, image, and video content for all social media accounts.
- Contributing to the execution of Ma’an’s communication plans and strategies.
- Enhancing USAID brand awareness and networking with local communities, partners, stakeholders, influencers, and other implementers.
- Producing weekly and monthly social media analysis reports.
- Assisting in our activity’s reports (weekly, quarterly, and annual reports)
- Assisting in writing success stories by interviewing beneficiaries (follow up with the technical team and gather information).
- Ensuring photography complies with USAID branding strategy and marking plan.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field required.
- Minimum of Two years of experience in communication is required.
- Experience working for USAID or other donor funded projects strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively with various industry stakeholders including the private sector, academia, the Government of Iraq, donors, and others.
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
- Technical expertise in social media and digital marketing.
- Strong technical skills to use a variety of software (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, and After Effect.).
- Proficiency in written and oral Arabic and English is required. Written and oral fluency in Kurdish, and other local languages is a plus, but not required.
