Scope of Work

The Communications Associate is to be engaged to support the implementation of the UNDP MCO Communications Strategy, especially as it relates to communication activities in Dominica.

Summary of Key Functions:

  • Support the implementation of the UNDP MCO Communications Strategy.
  • Support the development of key communication products and publications for the UNDP MCO.
  • Support the design and content coordination of the UNDP website, intranet,and social media channels.
  • Provide multimedia and graphic design support to promote MCO programming and marketing materials.
  • Assist Communications Specialist/Analyst in knowledge management and dissemination.
  • Support the implementation of the UNDP MCO Communications Strategy.
  • Provide communications support to the Dominica Project Office in close collaboration with the MCO team as required.
  • Support the development and production of communication and advocacy instruments and materials for marketing and awareness-raising campaigns.
  • Support promotional activities to position UNDP as a leader with in the development space.
  • Support the maintenance of the MCO database of contacts for media and other stakeholders.

Support the development of key communication products and publications for the UNDP MCO.

  • Support the CO publications strategy and plan based on the corporate publications policy.
  • Support all CO publication activities, including content management, norms for publishing, design, liaison with printers and other suppliers to oversee production and supervision of publications dissemination.

Support the design and content coordination of the UNDP website, social media channels and intranet.

  • Updating of the office web sites based on corporate requirements in cooperation with the ICT staff.
  • Preparation of content for the web sites and social media platforms ensuring consistency of the materials.
  • Content management of MCO social media channels, ensuring at least 2 – 3 new posts per week per channel.
  • Support the preparation and dissemination of press releases as well as communication products for MCO activities via MCO digital platforms and other platforms.

 Provide multimediaand graphic design support marketing materials, to promote MCO programming.

  • Photography and videography of activities related to UNDP’s work including before and after footage showing project impact, interviews with beneficiaries and project teams.
  • Editing and production of high-definition (HD) videos profiling results and project impact.
  • Support the editing and layout of reports and other communication products.
  • Graphic design of website banners, infographics, and other material for public information, communication and knowledge management for UNDP Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean offices.
  • Ensure timely and quality production of branded communications materials, in alignment with the UNDP MCO communications strategy and UNDP brand guidelines.

Assist Communications Analystin knowledge management and dissemination.

  • Compile knowledge products from programme/projects and ensure they are properly archived.
  • Upload content on internal database and website
  • Work with suppliers/vendors as and when necessary

Minimum Qualifications of the Successful NPSA

Min. Academic Education

  • Secondary education is required.
  • University degree (Bachelor’s degree) in media and/or public relations, graphic design, web design, publishing, communications, social media management, marketing or related field will be given due consideration, but it not a requirement.
  • Minimum 7 years with a Secondary Education or 4 years with Bachelor’s degree of relevant experience at the national or

Min. years of relevant Work experience

international level in media and/or public relations, graphic design, web design, publishing, communications, social media management,  marketing or related field.

  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages, good knowledge, and experience in handling of web-based management systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Strong ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary and multi- cultural teams

Desired additional skills and competencies

  • Experience with creating digital content for social media platforms advocacy campaigns, or story telling videos.
  • Demonstrable experience in videography, producing artwork for printor publication.
  • Experience in graphic design, developing of website banners, infographics, publication layouts.
  •  Experience working with local non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations and community-based groups is desirable.
  • Experience working within the UN common system, international organization and/or government with sound knowledge and experience in all aspects of the development communications is an advantage.

Required Language(s)  (at working level)

  • Fluency in written English is required.
