Duration of contract: 3 months with possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
Background:
UNESCO works to protect and promote Ukraine’s cultural heritage, support creative industries, and strengthen cultural policies in response to the ongoing war. Effective communication is essential to ensure visibility of results, strengthen partnerships, and engage the public. The Communications Consultant – Culture Sector will provide dedicated communications support for UNESCO’s culture-related activities, ensuring high-quality, timely, and impactful content across multiple platforms.
Objective of the Assignment:
To develop and implement communications activities that highlight UNESCO’s cultural projects in Ukraine, in line with UNESCO’s global communication standards and under the supervision of the Head of Communications and in close coordination with the Head of the Culture team and the Culture team of UNESCO Antenna in Ukraine.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Communications, the consultant will:
1. Content Creation
2. Visual Content Production
3. Coordination and Liaison
4. Event and Campaign Support
5. Monitoring and Reporting
6. Other Tasks
Deliverables:
• At least one article or success story per month on culture activities;
• Regularly drafted and published social media content (at least 1 piece of content every week for each UNESCO’s platform – X, Facebook, potentially Instagram);
• Photo and video packages from culture-related events and field visits;
• Monthly communications update/report for the culture sector.
Education:
• University degree in communications, journalism, public relations, media studies, international relations, cultural studies, or related field.
Experience:
• At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, journalism, or public information, preferably in the cultural sector or with international organizations;
• Proven experience in content writing, including scripts for the production of videos materials;
• Experience managing social media platforms for organizations.
Skills and Competencies:
• Strong writing and editing skills in Ukrainian and English;
• Strong organizational and coordination abilities;
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks;
• Ability to travel within Ukraine;
• Creativity, attention to detail, and ability to adapt to evolving priorities.
Languages:
• Excellent command of Ukrainian and English (oral and written).
Experience in photography and video production, with basic editing skills.
