Field to Market: The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture® is a 501(c)(3) organization that brings together a diverse alliance of grower groups; agribusiness companies; food, fiber, restaurant and retail companies; conservation groups; universities and public sector partners to focus on promoting, defining and measuring the sustainability of row crops for food, feed, fiber and fuel production.

Field to Markets seeks a Communications Coordinator to drive both strategic external and member-facing communications. In this role, the Communications Coordinator will continue to build upon and enhance Field to Market’s reputation as the voice of the agricultural value chain.

The position is responsible for an array of communications responsibilities, including developing educational materials, updating existing documentation, supporting Field to Market member events and conferences, writing external and member-facing announcements and materials, and more.

This is a grant-funded position and will be funded for up to four years and may be extended based on the success of the program. This position will report to the Senior Manager of Communications and Marketing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Craft messaging, develop support materials, and design creative assets related to Field to Market programming including, but not limited to, the Climate-Smart Agriculture Innovative Finance Initiative, Fieldprint® Projects, and the Fieldprint Project Standard.
  • Enhance existing educational resources and documentation to improve clarity and match programmatic updates.
  • Maintain a strong and polished brand for Field to Market by developing content for and updating Field to Market’s social media platforms, external website, and Member Portal.
  • Write and edit copy for print materials to effectively convey key messages and engage the targeted audience.
  • Collaborate closely with Field to Market member organizations to develop impactful joint communications strategies and materials.
  • Assist in designing and executing email campaigns using MailChimp to promote events, programs, and initiatives.
  • Support Field to Market staff and member communications needs, including preparing and editing materials for presentations or webinars, and co-authoring reports and programmatic content alongside subject matter experts.
  • Partner closely with the Director of Programs and Partnerships to revise and update program materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, and relevance.
  • Collaborate closely with staff and members to support planning and execution of Field to Market events.
  • Support overall member services as needed as part of membership-driven organization.
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, or related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of proven experience in journalism, marketing, public relations, or communications management related to agriculture, sustainability, and food/feed/fiber/fuel supply chains.
  • Excellent communication skills (writing/editing, speaking, facilitating).
  • Problem Solving/Analytical Skills: Identifies and resolves problems efficiently and effectively; gathers and analyzes information; develops solutions.
  • Ability to assess the effectiveness of existing program materials and identify areas for improvement.
  • Strong design skills and a proven ability to turn data into a visually appealing and informative format.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members to gather input and feedback and incorporate it into program materials.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong coordination, time, and resource management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.
  • Familiarity with emerging sustainability concepts is a plus to ensure precision and applicability in program materials updates.
  • Successful experience in working with a membership-driven organization preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative software desired.
  • Experience in WordPress is a plus.
  • Must have strong command of the English language.
  • Responsive to both internal and external needs in a timely, professional manner.
  • Proactive self-starter who can work as part of a team as well as independently when needed.
  • Travel required: up to 15%. Travel and other work-related assignments may include evenings and weekends.

The position is based out of Washington, D.C. Field to Market offers a generous remote work policy for local employees. Fully remote accommodations will be considered for the right candidate, who must be available during Eastern time zone work hours (9 am to 5 pm).

Compensation

This is a full-time exempt position. The salary range is $60 – $70K, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Field to Market offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401k match and generous paid leave.
