Role Purpose

With the support of the Communications Manager, the Communications Coordinator will implement the communications strategy and support communication needs for the upcoming UK/FR Spotlight on Culture. The Communications Coordinator will coordinate the delivery of external and internal communications, including media, PR, events, digital and stakeholder communications within the UK/FR Spotlight on Culture communications strategy. The Communications Coordinator will work closely with internal and external key stakeholders, execute plans that strengthen and integrate marketing initiatives to continue to engage current audiences, identify and attract new ones and create greater awareness of the UK/FR Spotlight on Culture.

Challenges & Accountabilities

Under the supervision of the France Communications Manager and in cooperation with the British Council Head of Season, the Communications Coordinators main responsibilities will be:

  • To execute campaign strategies, both traditional and online, to maximise impact and share of voice
  • To manage social media communities, engaging with them daily and work together with the digital marketing team on specific initiatives and campaigns aimed at maintaining a vibrant community of people interested in our Spotlights programme activities.
  • Together with the local Communications Manager produce, maintain and develop online content for social media channels as well as the Spotlights and French British Council website.
  • To contribute to the development of relations with national and local media and coordinate communications and other press-related duties.
  • To contribute to the internal communication around the Spotlight both locally and with the larger British Council UK office
  • To support the management of external communications agency which are engaged to support British Council in the organisation and delivery of the Spotlights programme across France from Spring until Autumn 2024.
  • To monitor and report on marketing KPIs for the project as agreed with the Regional Head of Marketing, Cultural Engagement Europe.
  • To provide monthly, quarterly, and final report as contribution to the overall Spotlights Programme reports.
  • To facilitate the successful internal communications around the Spotlights activities and impact.
  • To champion the deployment of the British Council brand architecture and Spotlights brand identity, monitoring partners compliance, and managing interventions to address and resolve reasons for non-compliance.

Requirements

  • Very good working knowledge of French and English (speaking and written)
  • Communications Qualification (or at least 2 years communications experience)
  • Experience in delivering communications within an organisation
  • Demonstrable experience in providing advice and guidance on internal and external communications
  • Demonstrable experience in mitigating internal and external communications risks and issues
