Introduction

Reporting into the Head of Planning and Delivery, this role will be the vital link between our
communications colleagues throughout the organisation and our creative and delivery teams. The
successful candidate will oversee all our internally delivered ‘Business as Usual’ (BAU)
communications as well as being a key partner to the Strategic Communications Team. We’re
looking for someone with experience of writing and owning creative and communications briefs;
someone who is able to oversee the delivery of work, making sure this work meets the brief and
is delivered to agreed timescales; someone who can work on multiple activities at a time whilst
maintaining a calm and pragmatic approach. Our ideal candidate would be a strong collaborator
who isn’t afraid to make decisions, who is able to work across the organisation in both an
advisory and consultative capacity, but also as a hands-on member of the team if required. This
role would suit someone from a design and branding account management background, or someone
with experience of delivery and traffic management.

What’s the role about? 

This role will be responsible for ensuring that we have the right information across the
organisation to deliver our comms and marketing requirements. It will be responsible for making
sure that our briefing processes are robust and implemented correctly, and that all teams
delivering our comms have the information they need to do their work.

The role’s primary focus will be on supporting delivery teams within the Digital Technology
& Communications directorate (DT&C), but it will also support managers in the UK
Country Comms teams to ensure we have a full view of the delivery capabilities across the
organisation.

The key collaborations for the role will be with the Traffic Management, Agency Management and
Comms Planning teams, ensuring the smooth delivery of all our activities, working closely with
our Brand and Marketing teams to support and facilitate our work in these areas. 

Main responsibilities

  • Ensure all comms and marketing requests coming into DT&C have come through the relevant
    route with the expected governance and oversight.
  • Chair a regular ‘Triage’ meeting, working with planning and traffic managers to review and
    assess comms and marketing requests coming into the directorate.
  • Be responsible for the creation of all BAU comms briefs, and for briefing all BAU work into
    creative and delivery teams, working with team managers to make sure all work is delivered on
    time.
  • Oversee the delivery management of all BAU comms work, supporting teams to make sure best
    practice is followed.
  • Develop, implement and own a live Resource Work Plan to reflect the requirements of our
    annual comms plan, working in collaboration with resource owners across Strategic
    Communications, Brand & Marketing and Campaigns & Mobilisation.
  • Regularly report to the Head of Planning and Delivery on resource utilisation and
    efficiency across all delivery teams.
  • Implement tools and/or processes to facilitate better delivery management.
  • Work with Heads of Communications & Marketing in our country teams to get a full view
    of delivery requirements across all organisational comms delivery teams to inform wider
    decision making in the comms delivery process.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Delivery management in either a design and brand agency or within a large, complex
    organisation
  • Understanding and experience of writing different levels of communications and design
    briefs
  • Proven experience of working with creative and digital delivery teams, with a clear
    understanding of the different disciplines within them
  • Demonstrable experience of working with both Waterfall and Agile delivery processes
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Line management skills along with the ability to work with others and manage the
    performance of team, and non-team, member


Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Experience of managing and developing a small team
  • Experience of work management systems

This is a Permanent Full-Time role for 37.5 hours per week.
