The WRI China Communications Manager is a key member of the office, working closely with the China teams (Program teams and core function teams) and the communication teams from all other WRI international offices and global programs to develop and carry out high-quality, effective and timely communications.
This position requires a broad range of professional communication skills that will advance WRI’s work in China to advance the reputation of the office and support its programs. The position requires strong skills in writing, editing, media relations, website content development and social media. The position requires working directly with media and other stakeholders to advance messages to the domestic media in China and internationally media.
She/he will work to build the profile and credibility of WRI China among key stakeholders through the media and online, including overseeing the WRI China website. She/he will be responsible for ensuring that all written materials (both Chinese and English) meet WRI’s standards, and work with program staff to develop new outreach products, such as fact sheets, press releases, etc. She/he will also oversee events in China for WRI staff and leadership in China and from other international offices.
On this role , She/he need to lead the communication team by setting clear goals, delegating tasks, providing feedback, and motivating the team to achieve high performance.
Qualifications:
- At least 5-6 years of professional experience in a communications field, either with the news media, non-governmental organization (NGO), or public relations firm;
- Deep understanding of international organizations and strong commitment to sustainable development.;
- Proficiency in website management and email marketing, with expertise in managing operations on domestic and international social media platforms, including WeChat, Weibo, LinkedIn, facebbok, and X, with keen awareness of global trends and public sentiment.
- Willingness and ability to work travel throughout China and internationally. Adaptability to cross-cultural work environments, international and domestic travel, and multi-time-zone collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree required , with Masters preferred;
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English and Mandarin, with professional experience;
- Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including senior representatives at NGOs, business and government;
