What We Can Achieve Together:

The Communications and Marketing Manager manages and implements strategic communication and marketing that facilitates comprehension, adoption and advancement of the organization’s goals and objectives. They will be on the External Affairs team, nestled within the Conservation Team, working to advance conservation strategies and goals through the development and implementation of cross-programmatic communications initiatives. The Communications and Marketing Manager will also play a critical role in support of the Philanthropy team, assisting with content development and possibly events support to help the Chapter reach its fundraising goals. They will be part of the TNC Northeastern Division, working with peers across the Division on the development and implementation of communications and marketing strategies.

The Communications and Marketing Manager is responsible for implementing and managing communication and media tactics to scale conservation and philanthropy outcomes. They help facilitate on-going communication between the global marketing framework and internal and external partners and identify communication and media needs and opportunities. They help develop speeches, key messages and talking points, as needed. They research, write and distribute a wide variety of communication materials including but not limited to op-eds, news releases, fact sheets, web articles, and blog posts, as directed. They will project manage the publication of a bi-annual newsletter and quarterly Board reports. They actively identify target audiences and seek engagement opportunities with new audiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

  • The Communications Manager is a key member of the External Affairs team, while working cross-programmatically, to manage and implement communication projects.
  • Responsible for and held accountable to meeting assigned project goals and objectives.
  • Resolves issues independently within program area.
  • Opportunity to act independently within program goals.
  • May work with vendors/other parties to execute projects/deliverables.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum of 5 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience cultivating and managing client relationships.
  • Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects.
  • Experience writing, editing, and proofreading.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • Experience implementing and measuring communication and engagement plans/strategies.
  • Experience developing media relations networks.
  • Familiarity with communication technologies and best practices.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge and application of current and evolving trends in relevant discipline.
  • Experience leading or managing projects.
