Objective of the position:
The Communications Officer will assist in coordination of communications across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, designing and implementing processes to assist the initiative through digital and traditional media promotion and required donor reporting. The Communications Officer will also collaborate with colleagues in Program Management, Communications and Marketing, Brand Creative, and Production to support communications and donor reporting needs for the Program, including the collection of creative and storytelling assets, identifying storytelling opportunities, designing presentations, drafting talking points, promoting the Program’s media offerings to local audiences, and providing administrative support related to communications and reporting. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the collection of consents from beneficiaries whenever is required.
- Ensuring non-disclosure agreement for Sesame Workshop International – Iraq contents are completed when needed.
- Serve as the focal point of contact for all communications and marketing-related plans and deliverables for the project.
- Prepare weekly, quarterly, and annual reports per the need of the project.
- Design all communications visuals in compliance with Sesame Workshop International – Iraq branding guidelines.
- Support in designing the initiative’s communications strategy, tracking and leveraging local events and project milestones to promote the initiative to key local audiences.
- In coordination with team members and Program colleagues, supports the execution of outreach activities that support tune-in and stakeholder engagement for the initiative.
- Assist the Communications and Marketing team in drafting of talking points, messaging, newsletters, blog posts, social media posts, and other public-facing materials about the initiative for a variety of internal and external audiences, including the general public, media, partners, funders, boards, and other key international stakeholders. Including creating compelling photos and short videos as needed to visually convey the impact and mission of the initiative.
- Provide support to the administrative functions of communications, including preparing presentations, scheduling meetings, and other duties as assigned.
- Using program milestones, data, and learnings, identify compelling opportunities for success stories, program snapshots, donor reporting, press releases, and other project-related collateral.
- Track and meet communications and marketing-related contractual requirements.
- Ensure proper archiving of the collection and production of project documentation assets such as testimonials, success stories, and field photography.
- Assists in the development and distribution of project-related creative assets and collateral, including promotional and donor reporting materials, mission and field photography, and fact sheets.
- Continuously updating Sesame Workshop Iraq profile and drafting One Pager report about the various activities per the request of the project.
- Continuously improve the company’s reporting structure by creating meaningful and relevant reports and providing data visualization and analysis.
- Oversee internal communication channels to keep all stakeholders informed about key developments, milestones, and activities.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 3 years of communications or marketing experience with expertise in the humanitarian or international development space.

Experience in photography and videography, with a proven ability to capture compelling visual content.

Proved experience in photo and video editing software like Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Premiere (Or other alternative design and editing software).

Strong writer with experience in social impact storytelling

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as Google Docs and Calendar.

Excellent Communications Skills

Strong multi-tasker with excellent organizational skills who can pay close attention to detail.

Knowledge of Iraq’s operational environment

Experience with USAID programs is strongly preferred.

Experience with international organizations or brands is strongly preferred.

Knowledge of the local media landscape and experience working with local media outlets is strongly preferred.

Experience reporting on program impact and implementation is preferred.

Fluency in written and oral English and Arabic is required. Fluency in Sorani Kurdish is

Ability and willingness to travel within Iraq for project-related meetings and events.
