At TREAD, we’re seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Communications and Outreach Manager to join our dynamic, outdoor-minded team in Wenatchee, WA. We promote well-being, outdoor experiences, and a relaxed working environment.
Non-Profit Background:
TREAD is leading 50+ partners in Chelan and Douglas Counties to enhance and protect our regional outdoor recreation for all who live, work, and play in our communities. TREAD collaborates with our partner organizations and agencies to find creative solutions in Chelan and Douglas Counties for sustainable trails, diverse partnerships, community leadership, and economic development. Our focus is improving regional outdoor recreation for sustainability and accessibility for current and future users. Through our relationships, we can identify the intersections and needs of our partners. We accomplish our goals through grants, project management, and collective impact work. We identify needs and leverage our relationships to efficiently fund, plan, and execute projects for the next 5, 10, and 20 years.
Position Overview:
We need you to help share our story. As the go-to person for communication, you will exhibit high proficiency in shaping and executing our communications and outreach strategy to meet TREAD’s goals. You’ll use your expertise to navigate communications for multiple concurrent TREAD projects requiring tailored messaging for distinct audiences. You will decide the best way to give voice to these projects so that the organization and partners can meet targets. This role requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to lift 40 lbs.
This full-time position will report to the Executive Director of TREAD. This position may require infrequent evening and weekend work to meet sensitive project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain relationships with TREAD partners.
- Develop and update effective communication and outreach strategies to engage the local community in TREAD’s projects and initiatives, including multi-year community campaigns.
- Strategize message delivery and effective communication channels for campaigns.
- Produce traditional and digital materials.
- Plan, coordinate, and staff outreach events for TREAD.
- Provide public relations support.
- Track communications, campaign progress, reporting, public opinion research, and media relations.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other design programs).
- Strong writing skills in APA or MLA format.
- Deep understanding of social media practices.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Highly motivated, flexible, and self-directed.
- Proven experience utilizing a wide range of tools to create copyright for digital, and traditional marketing campaigns.
- Education or training in communications, journalism, marketing, graphic design, or related fields
- Previous experience organizing and participating in community outreach events.
- Project management skills to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met.
- Passion for improving outdoor recreation opportunities to increase inclusivity.
- Ability to use and pull reports from analytic programs such as Google Analytics and media tracking programs.
- Experience writing and distributing media releases and other communications on websites, social media, and partner organizations, including editing and proofreading the work of others.
- Demonstrated experience using social media platforms for business promotion and development, including growing and tracking social reach and effectiveness on Facebook, X, Instagram, and other platforms.
- Ability to facilitate small workgroups and large meetings online and in person.
- Experience working on website customer management systems; editing and developing content for websites and making recommendations for improving website flow and traffic based on analytics and SEO results.
- Experience working on marketing campaigns and other projects from ideation to completion, while collaborating with various stakeholders throughout the process.
- Experience in email marketing and copywriting.
- Proven project management skills including planning, time management, prioritization, problem-solving, risk-management, decision making, scope and budgeting
Compensation & Schedule:
$68,000 – $72,000/ year depending on experience, 32 – 40 hours/week (negotiable)
