About the Program:

Land & Carbon Lab is World Resources Institute’s premier hub for geospatial data, analysis, and monitoring of the world’s land and its natural ecosystems. We develop breakthroughs in geospatial monitoring to help governments,businessesand communities power solutions for sustainable landscapes worldwide.LCL harnesses the power of artificial intelligence and geospatial monitoring to build cutting edge, open access monitoring systems for the world’s land and its nature-based carbon; generates geospatial data insights and analysis about the changing state of the world’s land to reach global climate, nature and sustainable development goals; and creates real world impact through partnerships with diverse organizations, from corporations and policymakers to Indigenous Peoples and local communities.

Job Highlight:

Reporting to the Land & Carbon Lab Communications Manager, Land & Carbon Lab, you will support the execution of Land & Carbon Lab’s communication and marketing strategy by contributing to the development of key messaging and digital content. You will also play a leading role in the execution of online webinars and provide support at key events and conferences. You will be work with Land & Carbon Lab communications manager and be supported by the wider Land & Forest Comms team to raise the visibility and use of Land & Carbon Lab’s data offerings and expertise through the delivery of public facing content and activities.You will be a part ofglobal Communications team.

What will you do:

Communications(50%):

  • Contribute to the development of Land & Carbon Lab’s communications strategy and key messaging
  • Manage Land & Carbon Lab social channels including content creation, scheduling, and analytics
  • Implement Land & Carbon Lab’s email strategy including drafting email copy, managing email lists, and building, testing and sending emails via our email platform Ortto
  • Help execute targeted digital advertising campaigns
  • Be a brand champion, supporting the implementation of Land & Carbon Lab’s visual identity and brand positioning
  • Help develop editorial content including developing story ideas and working with researchers and data users to draft and edit articles and blogs

Event Support(50%): –

  • Develop and coordinate online events and webinars – from the concept note to the delivery, include coordinating with third parties, working with our research and engagement teams to suggest speakers, developing promotional materials, coordinating run of show and rehearsals, and writing events reports
  • Maintain a calendar of conferences and international events strategically selected for Land & Carbon Lab participation
  • Provide communications and logistical support for in person events and conferences including executing side events and speaking sessions, editing speeches and support with presentation design

What will you need:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, environmental studies, political science, sociology, or other related fields
  • Experience: A minimum 3 years of relevant full-time work experience in a communications, marketing, or event management role
  • Support communications planning decisions and to identify and carry out follow-up actions
  • Produce high-quality drafts of basic communications products for review and clearance by senior staff
  • Strong proofreading and copy-editing skills, knowledge of AP and WRI style guides and the ability to quickly apply these to written outputs
  • Adept in the use of basic Microsoft and other software tools: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, and common social media tools such as Twitter and Facebook
  • Experience with other tools, such as media monitoring, project management (Asana) or Zoom
  • Experience producing professional written and oral communications and sustaining communications standards by implementing best practices
  • Experience managing email and social channels
  • Experience managing and promoting online and in-person events
  • Experience delivering quality communications projects promptly
  • Experience managing simple, tactical donor / program / research requirements is preferred, but not a requirement
  • Personal attributes: Employ collaborative and consultative approaches to problem solving. Curiosity, creativity, strong listening skills, and wide-ranging reading habits across a variety of fields and media are highly desirable
  • Track of information and finds trends and patterns in data to assist in decision-making
  • Passionate commitment to WRI’s mission and goals
  • Languages: Proficient in written and spoken English. Expertise in other languages including French, Spanish, Portuguese or Bahasa is desirable but not mandatory

Potential Salary: US salary range is between 69,000 and 73,000 USD. UK: 38 – 45k GBP.Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
