Cheadle Hulme Methodist Church is seeking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified person to work as a Community and Pastoral Worker in Cheadle Hulme Methodist Church and the community of Cheadle Hulme, which forms part of the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, Greater Manchester.

We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic and caring person with a calling for church and community-based work, who can help us to start working with people suffering from dementia and their carers. In addition, you will develop the links we have with families, children, the other groups who use the church buildings and the wider community.

Whilst an initial primary role is to work with the church in developing the work surrounding dementia support, you will be able to make connections with a wide variety of people, building relationships with groups both inside and outside the church and promoting the church as a welcoming and supportive presence.

The church currently employs a Fresh Expressions Missioner and a Children & Families worker (both part-time) and you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with them.

This is an opportunity to reach out to the community and to encourage and enable the current church community to share the love of God in Jesus with those around them.

This a full-time post with funding available for 3 years with the possibility of an extension and the holder will be a member of the church leadership team.

A specific faith is an essential requirement for this role and, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010, it is an occupational requirement that the successful applicant is a practising Christian.

Salary: £27,000 to £28,000 p.a. (depending upon experience) for 35 hours a week, with some flexible working required.
