About the Role

Reporting to the Team Leader Community Development this exciting position is responsible for building our community’s capacity through Council’s Community Investment Funding (grants, subsidies, sponsorships, and trusts). A strong focus of the role will be to engage local volunteer Not-For-Profit community groups to support community-led projects and initiatives as well as guide applicants through our Grants Program.

The role is directly responsible for the Team’s Flexi Grants, Community Support and Placemaking Grants as well as oversight for the implementation of successful grantee projects.

If you enjoy working with people in a supportive role and have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective and productive relationships. You have relevant knowledge and specialist skills in community engagement, consultation, and partnerships. You are flexible and resilient with a Commitment to living Mornington Peninsula Shire values.

  • Qualifications and/or substantial experience in Community Development and/or a related field i.e., working with volunteers and/or volunteer community groups.
  • Experience with SmartyGrants is desirable, training will be provided.
  • A high level of experience using MS Office products.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, engaging and friendly.
  • Relevant experience implementing a Local Government Community Grant Program and/or experience as a Grant Maker
