Connection, Strength and Recovery (CSR)

This pilot model of recovery aims to build victim-survivors’ resilience, wellbeing, individualised supports and access to recovery services. This provides a protective factor against potential future experiences of DFV where increased connection, resilience, support networks and professional resources may increase a victim-survivor’s safety.

THE ROLE

The Community Development Worker/Facilitator will work victim-survivors through the provision of specialised therapeutic educational and support groups. The position is required to review risk assessments and safety planning with clients, and where required, provide a brief case management service that facilitates sustainable community connections and support for clients. The position will engage with community leaders, community members and service providers to develop and implement activities that aim to increase community awareness of DFV and support people experiencing DFV in those communities. Community development activities will be based in the Eastern and Western regions of metropolitan Adelaide.

We currently have an opportunity to recruit a Community Development Worker on a full time, fixed term basis until 30 June 2025.

ABOUT YOU

To be considered for this position you will have significant experience in the provision recovery services such as therapeutic case management and/or trauma counselling.

Other key requirement include:

  • A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  • Experience in the provision of case management, risk assessments and safety planning for DFV victim-survivors
  • Experience in the development of therapeutic educative based programs to build individual capacity to promote recovery from effects of violence and trauma
  • Excellent knowledge of theoretical approaches and practice foundations applicable when working with women and children experiencing domestic and Aboriginal family violence
  • A current drivers licence, and be eligible for, or hold a DHS Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance
