  • Full-time 12-month fixed term contract based in Kempsey, NSW
  • $86,000 – $92,000 inclusive of Super + Salary Packaging   
  • Flexible hours – initial Friday evening work may be required (rotating roster)

About the role

Communities for Children (C4C) develops and facilitates a whole of community approach to support and enhance early childhood development and wellbeing for children before birth to 12 years. The program builds on local strengths to meeting local community needs and create capability with local service systems, using strong evidence of what works in early intervention and prevention.

As a Community Development Worker, you will foster, develop and evaluate initiatives and opportunities within the community that engage and empower residents, improve service offerings, increase service capacity and, reach and build community capacity and resilience. This includes program planning, coordinating, leading community events and partnering with other organisations to improve outcomes for our clients.

This role requires a strong attention to detail and a person who is highly confident using computer systems, particularly Microsoft Excel.

Duties

  • Develop relevant strategies and activities to gather data and engage stakeholders in understanding community assets, needs and opportunities
  • Implement and review strategies and opportunities with the aim of improving service capacity in the local area
  • Support, advise, coach and coordinate community partners and community-initiated programs to access and apply for funding
  • Maintain networks and partnerships with local stakeholders

Skills and Requirements

  • Degree qualification in Community Services, Social Work or similar or experience in community development roles
  • Previous experience working with partners and stakeholders to achieve shared objectives
  • Excellent understanding of, and commitment to, community development theory and practices
  • Excellent understanding of risk and safety issues such as mental health, domestic and family violence, drug and alcohol abuse and homelessness
  • Excellent attention to detail and competent using computer systems, particularly Microsoft Excel
