Join our Social Health and Wellbeing Services team who serves as the primary point of contact for people facing multiple complex challenges in their lives.

Our team provides a wide range of support, including crisis support, essential needs assistance, addressing everyday essential requirements, including food parcels, showers, toiletries, personal hygiene products, clothing and after-hours meals, alcohol and other drug support, as well as various groups and activities.

Opportunity:

The Community Engagement Coordinator will support the foundation and its local community in addressing social isolation and disengagement. This role involves overseeing a busy drop-in hub with over 200 individuals presenting daily, assisting with both day-to-day activities and events, and ensuring that crisis presentations are holistically supported. You will also supervise the community engagement team to establish guest-facing services that promote a community atmosphere both on-site and at service locations, providing quality engagement avenues for vulnerable guests and ensuring their creative and emotional wellbeing.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day to day leadership, guidance, and support to the community engagement team, including team building, delegation of tasks and conflict resolution.
  • Lead program coordination from end-to-end: propose program ideas based on community interest; plan activities; coordinate facilitators, venue and participants; oversee budgets and program delivery; conduct evaluations and summarise program outcomes.
  • Provide oversight of daily reporting duties, crosschecking data against financial and EAPA provisions and appointments to monitor accuracy.
  • Support the Development and facilitation of BCFs annual program of events and activities for the BCF community, acting as point of contact and managing ‘on the day’ functions to ensure success.
  • Plan and participate in community engagement strategies in conjunction with community members and partner organisations.
  • Attend interagency meetings and engage internal and external partners to raise awareness and profile of the foundation and its impact to building community capacity.
  • Represent the organisation at community events, network meetings and other community led initiatives and events as required.
  • Fortnightly one on one check ins with community engagement team members and document notes and actions to Head of Programs.
  • Facilitate fortnightly team meetings regarding operational updates and feedback.
  • Ensure fortnightly peer to peer meetings are occurring and minutes and actions documented.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditations.
  • Identify and raise key operational issues to Head of Programs and action ad hoc requests as required.
  • Engagement with external group booking across the site including AA, CMA, NA, theatre, parish groups, overseeing a group accessible community calendar.
  • Weekly deidentified ‘Good News Story’ to be shared with the CEO and / donors to enhance presence of guest services.
  • Receive and manage all non-clinical complaints to a resolution.
  • Participate in debriefings and meetings.

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in social work, social science, welfare, or related discipline.
  • Proven ability to lead community engagement initiatives that result in positive outcomes.
  • Proven ability to support collaborative effort within and across community based and government organisations.
  • Strong advocacy and referral capabilities.
  • Strong conflict management skills.
  • Experience working with adults with challenging behaviour and mental health conditions.
