Context/Reporting line:

 

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Migration Health Officer, the administrative supervision of the Head of Office (HoO) and the direct supervision of the National Program officer, the successful incumbent will perform the following duties.

 

Core Functions / Responsibilities

 

  1. Conduct health promotion activities (door-to-door visits, group briefings, or community awareness sessions) related to priority health topics at the community level in assigned locations, targeting different age, gender, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups.
  2. In conjunction with health promotion activities, conduct community-based surveillance activities (active case findings, household follow-ups, rumor tracking, and contact tracing [if needed]) to monitor priority health conditions at the community level in assigned locations and refer community members to the health facility when needed for further evaluation.
  3. In cooperation with and under the direct supervision of the Community Health Team Lead, support the organization and delivery of events and campaigns to strengthen community health programming (health promotion and community-based surveillance) within targeted locations (for example, catchment areas of targeted health facilities, informal settlements, within camp-based populations, and at points of entry and control [POE/POCs]).
  4. Assist the relevant Community Health Team Lead in organizing and preparing meetings, workshops, briefings, trainings, refreshers, and community discussions in line with IOM guidelines, SOPS, and modules related to priority health topics (key messages, IEC materials, needed precautionary measures, screening, etc.).
  5. Participate in and/or conduct relevant surveys, data collection, focus group discussions, reporting, distribution of health promotion IEC materials, and follow-up visits.
  6. Collect, record, and report rumors, misconceptions and misinformation relating to public health within beneficiary communities, and support awareness-raising efforts by providing accurate health information and referring concerns through established channels.
  7. Support health facilities and targeted groups/sites to ensure successful participatory approaches, community feedback systems and mechanisms, inclusivity, and evidence-based advocacy.
  8. Provide activity reports highlighting achievements, challenges, and key follow-up actions as needed or requested.
  9. Provide updates as it relates to community context and specifically public health concerns, including communicable and non-communicable diseases, possibly relating to stigma or targets against patients and healthcare workers (HCWs).
  10. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Required Qualifications

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, business management, or a related field from an accredited university, with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience or;
  • Completed Highschool degree from an accredited academic institution with at least 4 years of relevant professional experience.

 

Experience and Skills:

 

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural context as a flexible, respectful, and compassionate team player.
  • Ability to gain and build trust with communities and local leaders, strong networking, and respectful negotiation skills.
  • Experience in health-related programs will be an asset; experience with international non-governmental organizations or UN agencies is advantageous.
  • Ability to comfortably conduct and interact with beneficiaries during door-to-door visits, group briefings, and lead sessions with a sufficient level of communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to represent values and programs adequately with project beneficiaries, community members, and authorities.
  • Critical thinking, and creative problem-solving abilities.

 

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
  • Working Knowledge of any other language is an advantage.
