The Community Health Research Branch (CHRB) under the Matlab Health Research Centre provides maternal, child health, and family planning (MCH& FP) services, and runs Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) services to the women of childbearing age and under-five children living in icddr,b service area. It also extends support to the research projects conducted in the service area. Matlab CHRB is looking for suitable (Female) candidates for the post advertised.

Position Description:

The Community Health Worker (CHW) will directly report to the Field Research Officer and will be responsible for:

  • Visiting assigned households to collect data on MCH & FP and EPI, keeping records in the Service Record Book (SRB), doing pregnancy tests, following up on high-risk mothers and motivating mothers and family members for routine antenatal care (ANC), facility delivery and postnatal care (PNC);
  • Treating minor illnesses of mother and their under-five children at fixed-site clinics (FSCs) and referring them to Matlab Hospital or Sub-Centres, based on the severity of illness;
  • Distributing iron-folic acid and calcium tablets to pregnant women;
  • Counseling and distributing family planning methods to women of reproductive age and their husbands;
  • Conducting immunization sessions to vaccinate children, adolescent girls and women of reproductive age through EPI at FSC with proper documentation. Reporting adverse events following immunization (AEFI) and other post-vaccination events;
  • Extending active support to community-based research projects including vaccine trials, maternal and child health interventions

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • HSC or equivalent;
  • 1 year of experience in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of primary care in the field of maternal and child health will be preferred

Location: Applicants must be permanent residents of the following villages:

Dighaldi (V31), Mubarakdi (V32), Kaladi (W00), Narayanpur (V26), Hurmaisha (V87), Meharan (VBA) Datikara (V88).

Contract Type and Duration:

  • CSA basis for 11 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

  • Tk.22,080 /-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
  • Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen
