About Role
A newly created role! The purpose of this role is to lead the development and implementation of initiatives (both systems and leaning opportunities) which will build the capability of SSI programs and staff to connect and engage effectively with the community and bring the lived experience voice into planning and review activities. This role will take a lead on ensuring services are designed to promote a consistent approach and mutually beneficial partnerships with community and sector to drive improved outcomes. Building strategic relationships and bringing people together in a collaborative way to develop the capability of the sector to respond to the communities we work with is another key aspect of this position. Exploring opportunities to build the capacity of community and supporting programs to develop new initiatives to address the needs identified.
About You
Supporting the overall strategic goals of the Service Delivery Impact Hub and working closely with the leader, you will move the dial on best practice community connection and engagement whilst ensuring robust governance, operational excellence, standard principles and frameworks underpinned by technology solutions.
You will have a demonstrated track record and success in a community services operational role with lateral skills and exposure in community engagement frameworks. You will work to achieve positive community and social outcomes together with social change aligned with SSI’s broader Impact Strategy., You will also have highly developed skills across stakeholder engagement, planning, service design and consultation.
You will be a champion in shaping and supporting a respectful, non-judgemental, inclusive culture that promotes and upholds human rights and maintains an environment of trust, transparency, and accountability.

Essential Criteria
- Strategic thinking and planning to align with organisational priorities and needs of the business and stakeholders
- Collaborative working style to bring expertise together to drive results
- Experience leading co-design and/or collaborative projects with community
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to navigate sensitive & complex issues and/or relationships
- Pre-established positive relationships with diaspora community and community sector actors which can be leveraged for collaborative opportunities
- Ability to influence and negotiate to find fit for purpose solutions for an organisation or program(s)
- Strong (verbal & written) communication & problem-solving skills with the ability to develop & implement systems, processes & resources which enable consistent practice
- Monitoring and evaluation skills to gain insights which will inform continuous improvement
- Curiosity and initiative to identify opportunities and proactively seek out partnerships which will support strategic direction
- Strong foundation of practice in one of SSI’s key delivery areas: migrant, refugee, disability, employment or out of home care
- Ability to be culturally responsive when working with diaspora communities
- Exceptional emotional intelligence enabling the bringing together of Mission, Strategic Priorities and organisational culture across employees, members, volunteers and the broader community
- Commitment to high ethical and professional standards, and ability to build trust among team members
