The Community Lands Steward (CLS) will lead efforts to develop and enhance a shared stewardship model for Palouse Land Trust’s (PLT) lands. This role is highly relational, requiring strong community engagement skills, leadership in mentoring seasonal technicians, and expertise in land management.

The CLS is responsible for maintaining and improving PLT’s public preserves, identifying management needs and ecological restoration opportunities, and engaging diverse partners and volunteers to support stewardship work. They will also develop programming that connects conservation to community well-being and local economies.

As the primary steward of PLT’s fee-title lands and public access on private lands, the CLS is often the public face of PLT’s land management efforts, representing stewardship, vegetation management, and community engagement. The networks that support this work are vast and require dedication, accountability, and relationship-building.

This position is seasonally field-heavy from April to October, but also requires office-based planning, administration, and partner coordination. Success in this role requires tenacity, flexibility, and a can-do attitude.
