To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse in the New Beginnings service currently based in Linlathen Resource Centre, Rowntree Crescent, Dundee. The team provides a multi-agency approach to early intervention and assessment of pre and post birth risk for unborn babies and children up to 12 months old. The service targets parents whose circumstances, history and or lifestyle choices are likely to have a detrimental impact on their capacity to parent. This may be due to substance misuse associated with addiction, an enduring mental health issue or a learning disability.The successful candidate will require a knowledge and understanding of Child and Adult Protection legislation and perinatal mental health. The post holder will be required to complete mental health assessments, formulate plans of care and intervention and work autonomously. An ability to share their conclusions with professionals and participate in forums including children’s hearings, child protection case conferences and team around the child meetings will be required. There will also be an opportunity to develop the role further through your current skills and experience, which could include working through a group format or individual interventions with clients to promote their wellbeing and capacity to parent.Clinical supervision will be provided by Community Mental Health TeamsThe hours of work are currently 9am-5pm Monday – Friday however there is an aspiration for community services to be 7 days per week which all post holders would be required to participate in.*You must be registered on Sub-part 1: RN1 or RNA or Sub-part 2: RN2 of the UK NMC Register*Informal enquiries to: Lauren Mcnair, Team Manager, New Beginnings on 01382 434271 or emailShort-listed applicants will be contacted by email. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
