About the role
The Family, Carer & Respite program provides a range of supports and services to families and carers who are caring for someone with mental health issues. The program offers counselling, mentoring and coaching, peer support, group workshops, case management, support coordination, linkages with service providers, online forums, carer education and information, education and vocational support, recovery retreats, respite programs and recreational activities. Family, Carer & Respite operate in the context of local community with a focus on supporting people to build confidence, develop resilience and achieve their better life goals.
We are seeking a self-motivated, compassionate Community Mental Health Practitioner for a full time opportunity to work alongside a caring team in the Glenroy area. You will provide holistic, person-centred services to support clients work towards their recovery and wellbeing goals by developing their social and community connections, enhancing life skills and building self-confidence.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver high quality services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.
- Support clients with strengths based, recovery-orientated approaches to develop daily living skills, capacity and resilience.
- Complete assessments and provide information and resources, mentoring, counselling and support coordination services.
- Plan and deliver group programs that aid clients to build their skills and focus on recovery.
- Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to the client’s recovery goals.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
- Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
- Capability to plan goal focused care and implement therapeutic, recovery-oriented frameworks and practices.
- Relevant experience in facilitating group activities for clients experiencing mental ill health.
- Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
