Context/ Reporting line:
Under the general guidance of the Protection Coordinator, the overall supervision of the Protection Officer, the administrative supervision of the Head of Sub Office (HoSO) and the direct supervision of Senior Protection Assistant, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the protection program activities.
Core Functions / Responsibilities
- In close coordination with protection assistants carry out outreach activities withing the camp to identify the challenges and risks faced by the community members with a special focus on women and girls.
- Under the supervision of Senior protection assistant and with the support of protection assistant contribute to the provision of protection information services including awareness sessions and dissemination of protection Key messages to women and girls within Camp.
- Support the implementation of protection activities at IOM centers.
- Collaborate closely with the protection team to uphold guiding principles such as safety, confidentiality, respect, and non-discrimination across activities.
- Safely and confidentially identify and refer survivors of violence against women and girls to protection team and other service provider in absence protection team and on an ad hoc basis.
- Facilitate or/and Co-facilitate recreational activities with women and adolescent girls in inside the center.
- Maintain excellent trust relationship within camp community and Conduct home visits if needed for the cases who cannot be reached by phone, with specific consideration and directions by the protection assistant as mentioned in the SOPs.
- Perform any other duties upon request by the supervisor.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic university or institute with 1 year of relevant professional experience or;
- Completed high school’s degree from an accredited academic institution with 3 years of relevant professional experience.
Experience:
- Experience in similar context in the field.
- Experience in communicating and working with a wide range of people including people of culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Experience in protection outreach activities is preferable.
Languages:
- Fluency in Arabic and working knowledge of English is required.
