Brief description of the organization
Yazda is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established in 2014 in response to the genocide committed by the self-declared Islamic State (“IS”) against the Yazidis and other communities in Iraq and Syria. Since its inception, Yazda has worked with local and international partners to provide Yazidi survivors, IDPs, and refugees with humanitarian, accountability, and advocacy services in their post-genocide recovery. Yazda has been working in Iraq since October 2014 and operates out of the main offices in Duhok in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and out of the Sinoni office in Sinjar in Nineveh Province. Yazda is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the United States and is registered in Erbil, Baghdad, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, and Australia.

Introduction: Yazda is seeking a dedicated Community Mobilizer/ PT- under a Service Contract to join our team in Sinjar, Iraq, for the Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) project. This initiative aims to integrate Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) and Mental Health (MH) services into Primary Health Care Centers (PHCC) through mobile units, enhancing healthcare access and awareness among the Yazidi community.
Scope of Service:
The Community Mobilizer will be responsible for conducting community outreach, organizing health education activities, and facilitating access to healthcare services. This includes:
• Conducting outreach activities to raise awareness about the MMU project and health-related issues.
• Organizing community meetings, workshops, and training sessions on NCD and MH services.
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with community leaders, local organizations, and
stakeholders.
• Assisting patients in navigating the healthcare system and providing basic health education and
support.
• Collecting and documenting data on community health needs, service utilization, and project impact.

The Community Mobilizer is expected to uphold the highest ethical standards, ensuring
confidentiality and respect for cultural sensitivities. They will promote inclusivity and non-discrimination in all interactions and adhere to Yazda’s code of conduct and policies.
Additional Considerations:
The position requires frequent travel within the Sinjar area and occasional office duties.
The Community Mobilizer will work closely with a multicultural team and must demonstrate cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
Commitment to the mission and values of the MMU project and Yazda organization is essential.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
– Bachelor’s degree in social science, Community Health, Public Health, or a related field. Relevant work
experience may substitute formal education.
– Minimum of 2 years of experience in community mobilization, public health, or a related field.
– Experience working with marginalized or underserved communities is highly desirable.
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
– Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team.
– Proficiency in local languages and good command of English.
– Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
