FHI 360 leads the implementation of the USAID funded Ethiopia Community Nutrition Activity. The Activity focuses on enhancing multisector coordination and accountability; improving nutrition practices and health-seeking behaviors; and strengthening delivery of quality nutrition services within USAID’s Feed the Future Zones of Influence.

Job Summary:

The Zonal Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all Community Nutrition activities in the respective operational Zone and targeted woreds . He/she will also support the cross functionality, coordination and standardization of program implementation and that quality of program is adhere to standard guideline. He/she will be expected to coordinate with other Regional Hub Led to improve planning, implementation; monitoring and reporting processes as they pertain to Community Nutrition Activities. The incumbent works closely with other regional and National Technical Specialists, LME coordinator/officer and the government structure to ensure program integration at all levels. The Zonal Coordinator is expected to concurrently implement and track physical implementation against activity plan and budget utilization under Community Nutrition for her/his specific Zone. He/she will provide technical support for Local Implementing partners under Community Nutrition Activities; work closely with team to ensure quality of program implementations and timely completion of the planned activities. He/she is also expected to form a good working relationship with the government, coordinate with Feed the Future partners and other nutrition partners to ensure the functionality of coordination at Zone, woreda and kebele levels. She is also expected to collect woreda DHIS report for Project Specific Indicators. Provide technical support for any assessment and campaigns in related to nutrition for their specific Zones

Location: Mizan (Benchi Sheko Zone) ,Bonga (Kefa Zone ),Hawassa (Sidama Region ),Dila (Gedio Zone ) and Hossaena (Hadiya, Gurage & Silte Zones)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares annual plan and participate in annual budget development for the program

and ensure that Community Nutrition activities are fully harmonized with Zonal, and

Woreda annual plan.

  • Coordinate and technically support Zonal, Woreda, and local stakeholders to assess

needs related to Nutrition support the implementation of Community Nutrition Activities

  • Develop terms of reference, facilitate training, and review meeting and joint supportive

supervision that will be conducted at Zonal and Woreda levels.

  • Timely submit training reports, review-meeting proceedings and field travel reports to

regional office for documentation.

  • Ensure coordination of nutrition interventions at Zonal, Woreda and community levels
  • Ensure that all FNP policies, FNS, nutrition guidelines, SAM guide line and minimum nutrition standard, QI strategy on nutrition specific services, SBCC specific to the program/nutrition, revised HMIS, and monitoring tools are implemented in respective target zones and Woredas.

Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Reporting

  • Conduct regular monitoring in the intervention woredas’ health facilities and community through couching & mentoring in the HFs and ensuring community engagement
  • In collaboration with LME (M&E), participate joint supportive supervision along the zonal and woredas sector offices to show case the project support progress
  • Timely submit training reports, review-meeting proceedings and field monitoring reports to regional office for documentation
  • Ensure conducted ECC sessions are appropriately reported through intended formats
  • Regularly share the ground project updates in the zone with regional office
  • Document the necessary findings and make follow-up based on recommendations of field visits
  • Produce and submit case studies and best practice on monthly and quarterly bases

Project Design Implementation:

  • Develops strategies and tools for the design and implementation of specific technical components.
  • Monitors project deliverables and reports to supervisors.
  • Leads technical project activities and sub activities and assists with project implementation.
  • May implement components of the technical portions of the project plan.
  • Identifies and raises issues to senior technical staff.
  • Functions as the technical lead with oversight of project technical administrative and finance compliance, technical deliverables, and team management, (includes projects and consultants).

Business Development and Client/Funder Support:

  • Successfully leads new business development initiatives including project design, budgeting, and recruitment efforts.
  • Provides final authorization and approval of the technical portions of proposals and project design, based on the design and direction set by technical leadership.
  • Builds productive working relationships internally and externally.
  • Collects data for inclusion in proposals, which consist of assisting with proposal research and developing proposal strategies.
  • Draft proposals, budgets, and work plans.
  • Participate in business development meetings with partners and clients.

Operations Management (Finance, HR, etc.):

  • Ensures project activities are on track with work plans, with technical expertise informing project implementation.
  • Oversees project timelines and budgets. Assists in the development of donor reports and presentations.
  • Tracks technical project spend under broad supervision.
  • Tracks Statement of Work (SOW) and budget tracking systems; provides reports to supervisors.
  • Collects financial and technical tracking data; prepares reports.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for procurements.

Project/Program Reporting:

  • Prepares reports and papers summarizing project results and analyzing data sets and technical assessment findings.
  • Establishes and maintains SOW and budget tracking systems.
  • Drafts / prepares client technical reports.
  • Creates technical content (e.g., reports, presentations, manuscripts).

Quality Assurance:

  • Develops in-depth knowledge of quality standards through formalized system that documents processes, procedures, and responsibilities for achieving quality policies and objectives.
  • Coordinates and direct activities to meet client/funder and regulatory requirements.

Applied Knowledge & Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures with providing technical support for research studies.
  • Development of scope of work and deliverables for partners, consultants, etc.
  • Broader knowledge of quality standards
  • Proficiency with database management software and on-line search tools required.

Education: **

  • Master’s Degree / BSc Degree or its International Equivalent in Nutrition, Health Officer, Nursing and other Health related and having MSC in any public health field is an advantage, Civil Society, Communication and Social Marketing, Economic Development, Education, the Environment, Gender, Health, Nutrition, Research, Technology and Youth or a Related Field.

Experience: **

  • A minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience Nutrition and health programs, ideally in nutrition, health or related technical areas.
  • Have trained on CMAM, Quality Improvement, AMIYCN, Catchment Mentorship, Enhanced Community conversation, Adolescent Nutrition, Data Management and Use and DHIS2 training in the last three years.
  • Experience working effectively with local NGO/and other USAID partners.
  • Proven ability to work in a team, with good communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to motivate health workers, community leaders, health extension workers, AEWs.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
  • Willingness to Base on Zonal Health Office with willingness to work closely with Zone ,District and Community level health system frequently travel to rural communities.
