Carers NSW is the peak organisation for carers in NSW. We are a not-for-profit organisation connecting and empowering carers across NSW and improving their quality of life through activities, programs, training and policy advice. We advocate for carers of all ages and circumstances.
We are seeking a community minded individual to join our Care2Prepare project as a Community Readiness Officer. You will consult and collaborate with local Shoalhaven community to better prepare for emergencies.
As a Community Readiness Officer, you will liaise with key stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve the inclusion of people with disability, older people and carers in natural disaster planning and responses in the Shoalhaven local government area (LGA).
This opportunity will have a positive and meaningful impact to the local community and will appeal to you if you are passionate about supporting others.
This position is part time (2 or 3 days per week) contract role till May 2025.
about you
Our ideal candidate should possess the following skills and attributes:
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of social services, aged care/disability system including the local network of services available in the region:
- Demonstrated experience in community engagement, ideally gained across a culturally diverse group or a geographically diverse area
- Knowledge of social and demographic features, common challenges and geography of part or all of the region
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively negotiate and liaise with a wide cross section of people, including internal staff, partners, service providers and the wider community
- Current NSW drivers licence and the capacity to travel across the region

Salary and Benefits
The Salary is between $95K -$99K + super for full time, so will be pro rata for part time. Additional benefits include salary sacrificing benefits, flexible work arrangements, a highly supportive team environment, excellent training and development opportunities and health and wellness programs.
