About the role and program

Our Forensic Residential programs aim to deliver lifestyle and skills support for clients and support clinical intervention and treatment programs. The support provided involves helping adults who have a disability and an offending background to develop life skills, implementing treatment strategies and facilitating meaningful engagement in activities and opportunities to improve quality of life, reduce the risk of reoffending, and increase opportunities for community reintegration.

The role of the Community Safety Response Team (CSRT), Residential Services is to provide an effective reintegration pathway for eligible participants on post-sentence orders. This position will work in collaboration with Corrections Victoria to provide an effective, flexible and responsive after-hours and recall response to participants on post-sentence orders, across all South-East Residential Services. The CSRT will proactively respond to the individual and complex transition needs of each participant through a responsive, tailored and flexible support approach. In this position, you will provide after-hours intensive assistance and support to assist the transition of participants on post-sentence orders to the community within residential services, which may include supervision in the community.

The CSRT of Residential Services will be responsible for working an after-hours roster, typically from 5.00pm to 11.00pm and will engage directly with post-sentence participants, who have identified complex reintegration support needs. As part of this role, you may be recalled after-hours from 11pm to 7am to provide support to residents or CSP participants who may require intensive support or those who may be at risk of entering into crisis. Part of the recall expectations may also include, coverage of residential sleepover shift, double staffing at a residential property, stand-up night shifts at residential facilities or in hospital and return transportation to correctional facilities.

What we’re looking for

  • Minimum Diploma level qualification in an area relevant to the program being overseen (Social Work, Justice, Psychology, Community Services and/or Welfare Studies).
  • Current First-Aid Certificate (Provide First Aid, Level 2 or above) is highly desirable
  • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant or equivalent experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Competence in using PC-based office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office, SharePoint) and internet
  • Experience developing support plans and goal attainment strategies
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution and mediation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to advocate on behalf of the ACSO client group
  • Ability to build positive relationships and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities
  • Knowledge and competency in casework practices
  • Demonstrated capacity to work flexibly, possess the ability to manage competing demands, and able to effectively set boundaries and limits where required.

Please note that this position will require the ability to work shifts on evenings and weekends, including after-hours recall.
