Working environment

Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is a faith based International NGO that has been working in Iraq for the past eight years. Our mission is to accompany, serve and advocate on behalf of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons. JRS Iraq belongs to JRS Middle East and North Africa Regional Office coordinating the work in Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, and Iraq. In 2022, nine people work in the CO and JRS Iraq runs programmes mostly in Qaraqosh and Sharya for an approximate total of 150 staff members.

 

General Purpose for The Position

Under the supervision of the Project Director and her assistant, the sports ground coordinator takes care of the management of the sports ground and the sports ground’s hall (the hall in the following). He will be cautious to make these places open for JRS but also for host community people as well as partners.

 

Main responsibilities of the position

A) Coordination of the Sports and the hall

  1. In coordination with the other programs and M&E officer,
  2. performs administrative tasks, such as attending and scheduling.
  3. Organize a time-schedule that help to use the sports ground and the hall properly, both on-line and on the spot (with a board at the entrance of the centre for instance).
  4. Organize and take care of the watchmen.
  5. Responsible for monitoring and inspecting fields and facility, supplies, inventory, and equipment for safety and security; facility maintenance and ensures repairs are completed as needed.
  6. Identifies issues and resolves problems or refers to supervisor as appropriate.

B) General animation

  1. Responsible for event, class, program field, and facility logistics.
  2. ensures that the sports ground and the hall are used by IDPs, but also by the host community and the partners.
  3. keeps an understanding of the sports ground as a tool for community building and social cohesion, organising with an ad hoc committee at least two evenings a month an event (cinema, music, games etc.) open to all.
  4. A special attention to women and children of the neighbourhood is required.
  5. Eagers to help for any logistics related issues.

 

C) Reporting and monitoring

  1. In charge of tracking the appropriate information for the PD and the APD.
  2. In charge of transmitting clean data, implementing data collection with Kobo or any other appropriate tools in link with the Information and Management Officer as well as the M&E Officer.
  3. Writes the narrative and collect stories for the reports, et specifications and supervision sites and manufacture of materials on order.

Availability

Undertakes any other duties as assigned by the Project Director that are within the ambit of the position.

 

 

 

 

Qualification, Skills, and attributes 

 

  • Compassion and commitment for refugees and other displaced persons.
  • Hold at least a degree in Social Work or Management. Training in the field of animation is an asset.
  • Work experience of at least two years in a similar position
  • Have a good accounting and computer knowledge. Knowledge of project management is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Kurdi, English and Arabic (read, written, and spoken).
  • Attitude and professional behaviour: ability to work in a team but also autonomy in the exercise of its functions, dynamism, honesty, sense of organization.
  • Efficient in computer and software use: Word, Excel, Share Point, One Drive accounting software
  • Adhere to JRS values and respect the code of conduct
  • Ability to take initiatives and bring innovative ideas under the control of his director.
  • Sense of communication and good interpersonal skills
  • Sense of discretion, trustworthiness, and responsibility
  • Ability to adapt to working conditions and tasks that may change with the reality of the field.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
