Introduction
SCOPE OF THE TENDER:
This assignment has a scope of work of conducting a comprehensive assessment of disaster risks in selected 139 hazard hotspots identified in high category.
The consultants will conduct the mapping of hazard hotspots for floods, storms, landslides, and droughts, utilizing cutting edge tools and advanced technologies for hazard mapping, field assessments, and stakeholder consultations.
The consultants will evaluate climate projections (of temperature rise, rainfall variability, intensity, etc) for up to 2035 to understand current and future exposure to these hazards, ensuring alignment with national policies, including Rwanda’s National Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy, and international frameworks such as the Sendai Framework and African Risk Capacity guidelines. Additionally, the consultants will assess the physical, socio-economic, and environmental vulnerabilities of these areas and propose tailored mitigation and recovery measures aimed at strengthening national and local disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation capacities. At the end, the consultant shall conduct on job and hands on training of stakeholders on a comprehensive assessment and mapping of disaster hotspots.
