The successful candidate will join a dedicated statewide team that works to ‘create the next generation that cares about conservation. This group is made up of numerous conservation centers, a team of regional coordinators, the Project WILD program, and hundreds of Partners who work together to encourage youth in conserving Florida’s fish and wildlife. This team supports the delivery of summer camp programming and year-round school field trips which embody the four pillars of the FYCCN: Shooting Sports, Fishing, Boating, and Wildlife Discovery. In addition, the FWC Conservation Centers offer recreational programs for youth serving organizations through rental use of our facilities and support to FWC staff as training and meeting centers.
The ideal candidate must be passionate about getting youth outside to create the next generation that cares about fish and wildlife resources. The incumbent will work directly with several experienced Youth Conservation Center teams located across the state to ensure consistency in policies and procedures between locations, compliance with American Camp Association (ACA) Accreditation Standards, and up to date curricula and recreation program offerings. Their expertise will be shared with other staff to provide a uniform approach to youth programming across the FWC. Excellent communication skills (with staff, parents, school officials, and other interested parties) are key to succeeding in this position. An ideal candidate can perform the functions of this position with a strong understanding of the FYCCN’s mission, future goals, and thorough knowledge and application of FYCCN practices. Persons with good listening and writing skills and the ability to multitask at a high level are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong leadership, have experience with the ACA certification process, be able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, possess critical thinking skills, and have a positive outlook. The selected person may also serve as the CEE Director delegate as needed.
