Job Title: Seasonal Conservation Crew Leader
Location: This position is based out of Hurricane, Utah (St, George, Utah area). Field projects will take place on public lands throughout the American Mountain West region.
Department/Division: CREW, Mountain West
Status: Seasonal (6 Month Commitment ending in October)
Reports To: Project Manager
Schedule/Hours: Full-time. Flexible Schedule with varying shifts; 40 hours/week with additional hours as needed. Typical schedules are either four, 10-hour days/3 days off or eight, 10 hour-days/6 days off.
Travel: Yes, extensive regional travel required.

Position Summary:
Develop your field leadership and conservation skills leading a group of motivated young adults on a wide range of natural resource management projects throughout public lands in the state of Utah and all of the Mountain West region. Based in Hurricane, Utah at the “gateway to Zion National Park, “ ACE Mountain West field projects include fuels reduction and thinning, invasive species treatment, native plant restoration, trail construction and maintenance. Crew projects range in location throughout Utah and all of the Mountain West region of the U.S. from the red rock hoodoos of Bryce Canyon and Arches National Parks to the mountain peaks of the Wasatch Range to the heart of the Great Basin desert and beyond!
As the primary front-line staff of the ACE Mountain West Field Operations Team, Crew Leaders lead diverse teams of young adults in completion of environmental conservation and restoration projects. As a Crew Leader, you will train and lead crew members in conservation work skills, basic environmental education, and outdoor living skills, and engage their crews in environmental work projects that address critical environmental needs. Work is almost exclusively outdoors, involves strenuous physical labor in all weather conditions and climates, and typically involves “spike” camping for several days at a time in remote wilderness locations. The position requires extensive travel to public lands across the Southwest and may involve working for other ACE offices/locations for temporary periods. This will be a temporary position running from late April to early October. There is the potential for this position to become permanent.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead, manage, and hold corpsmembers accountable while serving on conservation projects.
Collect, record, and submit accurate, detailed project data.
Ensure personal and corpsmembers safety while in the field, especially as it relates to running chainsaws and other dangerous power tools.
Responsible for producing high quality work and guaranteeing successful project outcomes.

Compensation: Starting annualized salary range of $36,628.80 (40 hours/week for 52-weeks), paid bi-weekly ($1,408.80).
