CONSERVATION FUNDRAISING INTERNSHIP

The Wildlife Restoration Foundation (WRF) is seeking an enthusiastic and mission-driven Conservation Fundraising Intern to join our team for 3-6 months. WRF is a new nonprofit organization focused on direct interventions to ensure the health, security and growth of National Park wildlife populations (www.wildlifeandparks.org).

The WRF intern will be required to designate 16 hours a week to WRF on a regular schedule and agree to work with WRF for 4 months. This internship is unpaid. The Intern will collaborate with senior leadership at all stages of fundraising and marketing to amplify the presence and resources of WRF and its grantmaking program. If you are looking to acquire ample experience quickly, help us deepen the impact of our wildlife conservation nonprofit organization in our second year.  Your insightful contribution will help develop, expand and maintain our fundraising and marketing channels. This internship will help you acquire valuable fundraising skills and provide you with knowledge of how to create and implement a nonprofit development plan. Ultimately, you will gain broad experience in strategic marketing—skills in demand in any fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Researching potential donors and grant opportunities
  • Creating donor profiles to aid fundraising analyses
  • Writing and graphic support for collateral, letters of inquiry, proposals, or other content as needed, based on skill and knowledge

  • Leadership on a fundraising idea and logistical/other support for fundraising events
  • Any other duties as assigned

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts/Science (in field related to fundraising, marketing, conservation biology, and/or animal science preferred). Experience working with animals, parks, and/or zoos and aquariums ideal.
  • Comfortable and ambitious in reaching out to foundations and corporations to secure opportunities for WRF to submit inquiries and proposals to the top contacts.
  • Passion for non-profit work, veterinary care of animals, and stewardship of wildlife in their habitats. Appreciation for the role zoos and aquariums play in conservation.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams/Zoom and SharePoint preferred).
  • High-energy with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Part-time (16 hour/week) unpaid internship, with possible stipend after 4 months of fundraising results.
