Full time, 35 hours per week

£24,509 – £26,490 per annum

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is one of the UK’s fastest growing nature conservation organisations
and seeks to appoint a Conservation Grazing Officer

Do you want to use your livestock and nature conservation knowledge and expertise to help bring
about nature’s recovery in Yorkshire? We are looking for an exceptional individual to work as
part of our grazing and nature reserves team to deliver habitat restoration and management at a
range of fantastic nature reserves across Yorkshire.

You will work closely with our conservation grazing manager, site managers and volunteers to
manage a range of grazing animals including rare breed sheep, cattle and ponies. You will be
responsible for animal welfare and husbandry, collecting and moving animals between different
sites, assisting with our breeding programme, and ensuring the conservation grazing needs of
the Trust’s operations are met. You will recruit, train and support teams of volunteers who
help the team to look after animal welfare.

Our ideal candidate will have substantial practical experience of animal handling, livestock
movements, ailments affecting grazing animals and how to treat them and livestock breeding
(preferably lambing), ideally having worked in a similar role. A sound knowledge of nature
conservation is essential and how grazing animals can support habitat restoration and
management. You will be expected to be available to provide emergency cover out of hours and at
weekends as part of a rota.
