We have an opportunity for a passionate individual to join our grazing team at Essex Wildlife
Trust as a Conservation Grazing Officer and contribute to the management of our livestock and
grazing infrastructure at Blue House Farm.

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of livestock and
grazing-related infrastructure across all Essex Wildlife Trust reserves. Working closely with
the Conservation Grazing Manager and the senior nature reserves management team, you’ll play a
key part in delivering the annual county-wide grazing program and ensuring the health and
welfare of our livestock year-round, in accordance with the ‘five freedoms.’

At Blue House Farm (240ha), you will take the lead in overseeing the in-house grazing
operation. Collaborating with the Senior Ranger (South), you’ll regularly monitor and
proactively maintain the farm’s grazing infrastructure.

You will also manage a vehicle and specialist equipment, ensuring accurate record-keeping and
health & safety reporting. Additionally, you’ll assist the Conservation Grazing Manager in
coordinating volunteer “lookers” and organizing work parties for Blue House Farm and other
grazing sites throughout Essex.

The position is a permanent role with a starting salary of £25,122.83 per annum. The hours of
work are 37.5 hours per week (five out of seven days) with a team rota in place for grazing
cover call out.

To apply for this opportunity, please submit an online application by 9:00am on Wednesday 11
September 2024.

As a Disability Confident employer, we are committed to offering an interview to anyone with a
disability that meets all the essential criteria for the post. Please let us know if you
require any adjustments to make our recruitment process more accessible.

Essex Wildlife Trust is committed to an inclusive and diverse workplace where everyone is
welcome. As a conservation charity, we know how important diversity is, both in our natural
world and amongst the people we employ. We want everyone to feel valued and empowered to
contribute to our vision of “A county rich in wildlife with people connected to nature”.
