Job title: Conservation & Research Coordinator
The Hawk Conservancy Trust is a UK registered charity whose mission is the conservation of
birds of prey. From our award-wining visitor attraction and beautiful countryside location, we
operate a range of conservation and research projects on site, in the UK and overseas. We have
an exciting opportunity for a full-time Conservation & Research Coordinator within the
Trust’s Conservation and Research (C & R) Department.
The Conservation & Research Coordinator will contribute to the overall objectives of the
Hawk Conservancy Trust’s C & R department. Working in this team, the core component of the
position is to be lead communicator between C & R and other Trust staff plus our partners,
external organisations, funders and supporters.
We seek a capable and confident scientist and communicator. We place great value on flexibility
and adaptability. You must be able to work independently and link this work to the team.
Reliability, personal and academic integrity and trustworthiness are essential.
There is a high degree of liaison in the role and so your inter-personal skills must be
exceptional at all levels.
You will be expected to:
- Develop and implement a complete communications strategy to promote the activities,
outputs, goals and aspirations of the C & R department - Work closely with the Marketing, Communications & Fundraising and the Education
departments - Conduct, contribute to and/or coordinate projects in the Trust’s Research Programmes
- Initiate and/or manage external collaborations for research partnerships
- Pursue and secure funding through grants and donations to support the work of C & R
What we are looking for:
You must have graduated successfully with a degree in a biological science or similar
discipline. Outstanding communication skills and an exceptional command of written English are
essential. You will be able to demonstrate:
- A working knowledge of effective communications
- Familiarity with conservation science and/or field conservation experience
- Presentation experience in public and professional settings
- Exceptional inter-personal skills at all levels
- Strong computing skills, including social media and presentation software

This position will remain open until filled, with interviews taking place on a rolling basis.
Appointment subject to satisfactory references and a DBS check. Due to our rural location, it
is important to have your own transport. This role is not eligible for UK Visa Sponsorship –
the successful applicant must have a pre-existing Right to Work in the UK before being offered
an employment contract.
